The Prologue (プロローグ[1]?, Purorōgu) is a short animation that plays when starting a Rhythm Game, acting like a title screen. It represents the game and prominently displays its title, accompanied by a short jingle.
In Rhythm Tengoku, Rhythm Heaven and Rhythm Heaven Fever, the prologue cannot be skipped. In Rhythm Heaven Megamix, the prologue can be skipped after the Rhythm Game has been cleared, by pressing Ⓐ to go the Practice if one is available, and/or Ⓧ to go directly to the game. This entry also gives prologues to Endless Games. When starting a Rhythm Game while riding the Challenge Train, the goal's rules are displayed on the Touch Screen during the prologue.
List of prologues

Rhythm Heaven Megamix
Prologue animations for games returning from Rhythm Tengoku and Rhythm Heaven are completely redone in this game, with remixed jingles. Animations and jingles for games from Rhythm Heaven Fever are reused directly, with the exception of the logo being replaced with plain text. The remixed jingles for the Extra Games are reused. New games introduced in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, as well as the newly created prologues for Coin Toss and Clap Trap, reuse old jingles. The Karate Man games are all given unique animations, and the jingle is given a different grunt for each.
Internally, this game has two sets of jingles, one in .aac format and an unused set in .bcwav format, which are all prefixed with "WSD_PROLOGUE_". Both sets of names will be shown here, as well as those from Minna no Rhythm Tengoku Zen Kyoku-shu where applicable.

Trivia
- In the vast majority of cases, the title shown on the prologue matches the name of the game shown on the Game Select and other places. There are several instances where this is not the case:
- Tap Trial 2's prologue in Rhythm Tengoku reads スーパータップダンス (Super Tap Dance?), while on the Game Select, presumably due to character limits, it is shortened to スーパータップ (Super Tap?). The shortened name is also the name used in the Studio, Rhythm Tengoku Zen Kyoku-shu, and in Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+.
- All games in the Technician and Last Technician stages of Rhythm Tengoku, which are arranged versions of previous games, show the same title as their normal versions on their prologues. Some of the games here do not have a unique prologue at all, entirely reusing the old one.
- All two player games in Rhythm Tengoku (Arcade) use the same prologues as their singleplayer counterparts, dropping the "2P" suffix shown on the Game Select.
- Every Remix in Rhythm Tengoku is formatted as [Nth]リミックス ([Nth] Remix?) on their prologues, and as リミックス[N] (Remix [N]?) everywhere else.
- Every Remix in Rhythm Heaven Megamix simply reads "REMIX" on their prologues, with the associated theme being represented by an object rather than words.
- There is an unused prologue jingle in Rhythm Heaven Fever and Rhythm Heaven Megamix, being a simple, short drum beat.
- There is an unused, very simple prologue animation meant for Manzai.
