Bertram (バッタ?, Batta) is one of Tibby's friends in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
Description
Bertram is a green creature similar to his friend Tibby. He wears glasses, and loves reading books. He is very knowledgable and shares interesting tidbits with Tibby[1]. He appears to get nervous upon any sign of romantic gestures.
Story
After Tibby returns To Heaven World, he finds the place has turned gloomy, and writes a letter to the player asking for help. When they reach Heaven World, the two begin exploring and encounter Bertram in Star Land, who is unable to see[2] due to the gloomy clouds fogging up his glasses[3]. He speculates that the gloomy skies are the result of something having happened to Tibby's Mom[4], which he theorizes based on the direction and time the clouds came from[5] and reports of a spooky voice having been heard coming from Mamarin Palace the day before[6]. He is unable to finish his analisis of the situation due to his fogged glasses[7], so Tibby suggests that restoring the flow will help[8], something Bertram had not considered[9]. After clearing the four Rhythm Games, Bertram is startled upon seeing a heart in the sky, believing it to be a kiss someone had blown at him[10]. As he's calming down from the rush of the supposed kiss, he notices his glasses have cleared up[11], and he opens the way to Comet Land[12], urging Tibby to see his other friends[13].
Later on, Colin mentions that the main door to Mamarin Palace is locked up, that there is bad flow coming from the two towers next to the palace, and that clearing the Rhythm Games within will open the door[14]. Tibby briefly praises "Colin the Brain" for this plan[15], before Colin reveals it was Bertram who came up with it[16]. During the Gameplay Counts at the end of the story, Bertram is seen blowing bubbles with his friends.
Bertram appears in Rhythm Tengoku The Best Plus Comic. In 23テビリとバッタ (Tibby and Bertram), Tibby meets with Bertram, and tells him about Colin's belly being "that". Bertram, now sweating, comments that Colin's belly is "cool", which confuses Tibby. Bertram tries to correct himself and says it's "cute", which confuses Tibby again. Bertram tries to assure him that he knows what they're talking about. In 31テビリとイヨカン (Tibby and Betty), Betty complains to Tibby about their friends, in Bertram's case being about how he scribbled on the book she gave him. In 33レスラーとファン (Wrestler and Fans), Bertram is taking a picture with Wrestler alongside his friends.

Trivia
- In Bertram's official artwork, he has visible eyelashes. Due to the low resolution of his artwork in the game, these eyelashes blend in and become indistinguishable.
- When visting Trey at the Café, he mentions a recurring dream where he and an individual, who he describes as looking nearly identical to himself and kind of like Tibby, talk about water. This may be a reference to Bertram, as they are both green and wear glasses[17].
- Tibby mentions that he will someday grow up into a palace just like his mother[18]. As Bertram is of the same species, it is implied he will also grow up into a palace himself.
- In the comic 23テビリとバッタ (Tibby and Bertram), Bertram's nervousness while talking about Colin's belly can be read as an indication he has a crush on Colin, similar to his freakout over a heart he thought was a kiss.
