"Ready for something new? Remixes compile songs from different challenges in the game. Players can try to tackle five rhythm games in a row, then one remix—a mix of those same five rhythm games." |
A Remix (リミックス?, Rimikkusu) is a special Rhythm Game which appears throughout the Rhythm Heaven Series.
Description
A remix appears at the end of each Stage (after 5 games in Rhythm Tengoku, after 4 games in the rest of the series), and combines previous games into one, often with a general theme applied. In most remixes, the only games used are those in the current Stage. Remixes after the Staff Credits include more than the usual four or five games.
In every game, there is at least one remix that contains every single Rhythm Game, being Remix 6 in Rhythm Tengoku, Remix 10 in Rhythm Heaven, Remix 10 in Rhythm Heaven Fever, and Left-Hand Remix, Right-Hand Remix and Final Remix in Rhythm Heaven Megamix. In Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+, they are each described as a Medley Remix (メドレー リミックス?, Medorē Rimikkusu)[1][2].
Rhythm Tengoku
In Rhythm Tengoku, there are 8 remixes in the game, due to the game having 40 non-remix games arranged in Stages of five. Two remixes have background vocal tracks, which are listed at the side.
- Remix 1
- Remix 2
- Remix 3 ♪ Koi no Honey Sweet Angel
- Remix 4
- Remix 5 ♪ WISH Kimi o Matenakute
- Remix 6
- Remix 7
- Remix 8
In the arcade version, an Extra Stage was added with its own Remix.
Rhythm Heaven
In Rhythm Heaven, there are 10 remixes in the game, due to the game having 40 non-remix games arranged in Stages of four. Unlike Rhythm Tengoku, none of them have a background vocal track.
Rhythm Heaven Fever
In Rhythm Heaven Fever, there are 10 remixes in the game, due to the game having 40 non-remix games arranged in Stages of four. Three remixes have background vocal tracks, which are listed at the side.
- Remix 1
- Remix 2
- Remix 3 ♪ Tonight
- Remix 4
- Remix 5
- Remix 6
- Remix 7
- Remix 8 ♪ I Love You, My One and Only
- Remix 9 ♪ Beautiful One Day
- Remix 10
Additionally, the One Player Endless Games menu features a remix of its own.
Rhythm Heaven Megamix
In Rhythm Heaven Megamix, there are 10 remixes in the game, each of which take place inside the game's 10 towers. Each tower has 5 games, 4 non-remix games followed by the remix of the 4 games. Unlike before, these remixes are not numbered, due to the game's occasional non-linear completion path when it comes to the towers. While the Lush Remix must be completed first, the other remixes up to the Songbird Remix can be completed in any order. The Left-Hand and Right-Hand remixes can also be completed in any order. The Museum does list the remixes in a specific order, however.
Three remixes have background vocal tracks, which are listed at the side. However, two of them were not given localized lyrics in the non-Japanese versions of the game, instead using a modified instrumental track. Although the Japanese lyrics can still be heard by setting the voices to Japanese in the Café, the vocal song credits don't appear in-game.
- Lush Remix ♪ Tokimeki no Story
- Honeybee Remix ♪ I'm a lady now
- Machine Remix ♪ Sono Hitotsubu no Ōkina Namida ni wa
- Citrus Remix
- Donut Remix
- Barbershop Remix
- Songbird Remix
- Left-Hand Remix
- Right-Hand Remix
- Final Remix
For story reasons, the last three remixes receive different icons after clearing Mamarin Palace.
Trivia
- The Remixes in the Rhythm Heaven Series are very similar in concept to various compilation sets found in the WarioWare Series, which would compile specific sets of microgames found previously in each game. Most of these sets would feature unique names from each other, but two in particular, specifically Jimmy's Remix No. 1 and Jimmy's Remix No. 2, share the "remix" name with the ones found in the Rhythm Heaven Series.
- WarioWare: Move It! further expands on the similarities, by calling two of its compilation sets Remix 1 and Remix 2.
- Extra Remix and Endless Remix are the only remixes prior to Rhythm Heaven Megamix to have a name instead of being numbered.
- The Rhythm Heaven Megamix Tips & Tricks page on Play Nintendo incorrectly states that remixes are comprised of the five Rhythm Games in a row that were played prior. While this would be true for Rhythm Tengoku, each game afterward only has four Rhythm Games prior to and appearing in a remix.
- A remix of sorts is presented at the end of the Rhythm Heaven Megamix Demo. It is played automatically and features several games from the full version, set to the map theme for Earth World, to prompt the player to purchase it[3][better source needed].
