Rhythm Heaven Megamix (リズム天国ザ・ベスト+ Rhythm Tengoku: The Best Plus+) also known as Rhythm Paradise Megamix in Europe, is the fourth game in the Rhythm Heaven Series. It was released on June 11th, 2015 in Japan, June 16, 2016 in the west during the E3 announcement, and was released on October 21, 2016 in Europe, on October 22, 2016 in Australia, and on December 1, 2016 in South Korea.

This game includes 70 minigames from the previous three Rhythm Heaven games, 20 new minigames and 10 remixes.
This game includes 63 Rhythm Games from the previous three Rhythm Heaven games (18 of which are unlocked through the Shop), 19 new ones, 12 shortened versions of previous games, 4 Endless Games (one from each previous title and one new), and 10 new Remixes, making for a total of 108 games in all.

Story Mode
Notably, the North American version was only available as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop while other regions also received physical releases. As the Nintendo eShop closed on March 27, 2023, the North American version can no longer be purchased.

Rhythm Games
In the single player Story mode of the game, the player helps a character named Tibby get back to Heaven World 天の国 (mispelled as "Hevven World" by Tibby) by completing various rhythm games and restoring the flow. On his way, he meets various characters, such as Boondog, Dieter, Shep, Donna, Hairold, Eglantine and Trey, who guide him through their various lands; as well as the Gatekeeper Trio, which consists of Saffron, Saltwater, and Paprika.
SpoilerDuring the story of the game, the player helps a character named Tibby get back to Heaven World by completing various Rhythm Games and restoring the flow. On their way, they meet various characters who guide them through their various lands; as well as the Gatekeeper Trio who block their path. Throughout the game, Rupert pops in and out to inform the player of any events, such as something new being unlocked, or when a Perfect Campaign is going on.

Challenge Land
The majority of Rhythm Games appear over the course of the story, where they are grouped into stages of four; one from Rhythm Tengoku, one from Rhythm Heaven, one from Rhythm Heaven Fever, and one new for Rhythm Heaven Megamix. All towers have a Remix at the end as well.
Challenge Land is a new feature in Megamix. Here, the player may board the Challenge Train, where the player must beat a series of minigames, usually with modified rules and tempo. Additionally, if the Perfect Campaign is up, it can be challenged here. Challenge Land becomes playable once the player clears the Lush Tower.
List of Rhythm Games
Majority of the games appear in Story Mode, where they are grouped into places of four: one Rhythm Tengoku game, one Rhythm Heaven game, one Rhythm Heaven Fever game, and one new game.

(Games marked with "[Prequel]" are new versions of previous rhythm games, and are considerably easier than their predecessors. Games marked with "[Original]" are the original versions of the rhythm game from their respective Rhythm Heaven title. Games marked with "[Sequel]" are a sequel to the ORIGINAL game, not a prequel. Games not marked at all have no brand-new prequel.)
The games in Honeybee Land, Machine Land, Citrus Land and Barbershop Land are short versions of the original games with new music and visuals. They take the original name and description of the games, while the long versions, being the actual original games, are given new names, which in English often coincide with the arrange versions in previous installments.
Earth World
At the beginning of the game, Tibby accidentally falls off Heaven World. A mysterious individual (the player) finds him, and agrees to help him return to Heaven World. The two see a Green Tower in the distance, and decide to go to it. They pass through various lands, helping various people with their troubles by clearing Rhythm Games along the way in order to progress.

Once Tibby and the player finally reach Lush Woods, where the Lush Tower can be found, they meet Trey. He has been guarding the tower for a long time, and agrees to help Tibby reach Heaven World by having him and the player climb the tower, clearing Rhythm Games in order to restore the flow to the tower, and thus activate its power.

After Tibby and the player clear Lush Tower, Tibby tries to use its power to return to Heaven World, but it is not enough. Trey informs him that they need a rainbow of power for that, after which the six towers appear. Tibby and the player are allowed to tackle them in any order they wish. The short versions from the lands return as "powered-up" Rhythm Games, which are the original versions, but renamed to avoid confusion. Many of their names and descriptions now coincide with their arrange versions, however.

After the six towers of Lush Woods are cleared, they focus their power into Lush Tower to create a rainbow, which allows Tibby to return to Heaven World. The story appears to be finished, however, Tibby sends a letter to the player saying there's trouble in Heaven World, asking for their help.
Heaven World
The player, using the letter to climb up the rainbow, reaches Heaven World. Tibby explains that he doesn't know what's happened, but trusts that with the player's help, they can fix it. They pass through a few lands, helping Tibby's friends by clearing Rhythm Games along the way in order to progress. During this, they learn of a strange sound that was heard coming from Tibby's house, and dark clouds covered the sky. This lead to the inhabitants feeling depressed, not knowing who could've done this.

After clearing all of the lands along the way, the duo finally reach Mamarin Palace, which is also Tibby's Mom. Here they meet Colin, who has been looking for Tibby to inform him that Tibby's Mom is in trouble. He asks the duo to climb up to the top of the palace to ask her face-to-face what's happened. To open the door however, they need to climb up the two towers next to the palace, clearing the Rhythm Games in them to restore the flow, and thus unlock the door to the palace proper.

Honeybee Land
The Rhythm Games in this section are the arrange versions. In some cases, these end up being the third version of some games, having a completely new name and description. Notably, Karate Man Senior is not an arrangement of any existing game, but is present here nonetheless.

After clearing the Rhythm Games within Tibby's Mom and climbing to the top, Tibby tries talking to her. Although she doesn't respond, Tibby explains to her what has happened along his way back, meeting a lot of people, and learning that everyone else has troubles like him. He says he has decided to live as one who helps others, but still gets no response from his mother. She then exhales, revealing she was actually holding her breath to cure her hiccups the whole time, which is what caused the spooky voice and gloomy skies in Heaven World.

Café
In the Café, the player can access (from left to right) Terrace, the Stable, talking to the Barista and other characters, the Shop, Museum, Badges, Memories, and Mascots. Each option is unlocked after certain points in the game. Notably, the Barista no longer helps the player skip games they are having trouble with; instead, Rupert shows up when it's time for that, and charges a fee to skip the game.
Endless Games
Endless Games return in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, including one game from each installment, and a new one of its own. They are unlocked by completing all three Trials set by the Gatekeeper Trio on that game's Gate, after which the endless game will be available in the Museum.
Challenge Land
Challenge Land is a new feature in Rhythm Heaven Megamix which allows up to 4 players to ride the Challenge Train though various courses consisting of Rhythm Games with altered rules. The Perfect Campaign returns, appearing in this section. If the player misses during an attempt, the game ends with the message "You Missed..." rather than continuing like a normal game. After a Perfect is obtained, the player does not receive a Gift. Instead, each campaign awards one Flow Ball, which can used to purchase Rhythm Games at the Shop. The Rhythm Items and Music also purchasable in the Shop serve the same purpose as the Gifts in previous games.
Missing Games
While most games returned in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, 24 didn't make the cut. The following are the games from past installments of Rhythm Heaven that did not return for Rhythm Heaven Megamix. (Arrange versions whose long version is in Rhythm Heaven Megamix are highlighted in this font. Remixes, Endless Games, Games, and Two-Player Games aren't listed.) Many of the Arrange versions have new patterns or new cues, which also exist in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, but are never used. It is debatable how many of these were actually intended to appear in the game or were simply leftover data from the porting process.

When choosing "Try Rhythm Games!", the player goes directly to the Introduction (which can be skipped), after which they meet Tibby, who rapid-fires through several games, and comments after each one. If the player gets an OK or higher, they move on to the next game.

Cafe
In the cafe you can play with your Rhythm Toys, buy Rhythm Items, CD's and extra games with Flow Balls and visit the Museum.

Shop Games
Shop games act like extra games from Fever, but instead of getting medals in each rhythm game to unlock them, they can be bought from the shop owned by Saffron with Flow Balls found by playing Challenge Land's Perfect Campaign and Challenge Train's challenges. All shop games are returning minigames from the previous games in the series which allow you to perfect them. Some of them can be found in Challenge Train's challenges depenting on if the player hasn't bought them yet.

Reception
This game has received a review of 34/40 on Famitsu.

According to a report, this game sold over 500,000 copies in Japan by the end of 2015. .

As of February 2016, the total sales in Japan reached 650,000 copies.

This game is known to be favorable on MetaCritic with an avarage score of 83.

Trivia
* There is a challenge train set called "Wario...Where", where many of the minigames are replaced with WarioWare characters. This is due to both series being created by the same developers.
*This is the first game to not include any of Tsunku's songs in the new Rhythm Games.
*This game currently holds the record for the most Rhythm games in it, with Rhythm games from every game in the series.
*When this game was talked about at the E3 2016, #RhythmHeaven quickly became a trending topic on the popular social networking website known as Twitter.
* During the real credits the following things and characters from various games can be seen.
** The tree from Lush Remix.
** The Huebirds of Happiness from Flock Step.
** The Star you can collect in every game.
** The planet from Remix 7 of Rhythm Heaven Fever.
** The Rhythm Rockets from Launch Party.
** The Alien From Spaceball.
** The huge machine from Working Dough, it also shines the color of the forest.
** Play-Yan and the star from Night Walk.
** The riceball from Spaceball.
** All the colors for each Remix, red, orange, yellow, green, indigo, blue, purple.
** The Moon Bunnies from Bunny Hop.
** The outline for the star in Star Land.
** Rhythm Heaven itself.
* Ashley makes a cameo in the cafe as a doll.
* The minigames at gates and towers are lined up by their game from oldest to newest (for example in the Lush Tower: First is Spaceball from Rhythm Tengoku, then Dog Ninja from Rhythm Heaven, then Hole in One from Rhythm Heaven Fever and finally the new one - Sumo Brothers).
* While using simple tap, it shows the character when tapping. This is a reference to Rhythm Heaven.
* This the first game in the series to have threequels included.
* It is notable that the title cards in the English version of the game all use the same font styles and are rather simplistic compared to the more artistic and unique title cards in the Japanese version and Rhythm Heaven Fever.
** The only title card to be fully changed from the Japanese version is Karate Man Combos!.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix (リズムてんごく ザ・ベストプラス?, Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+), also known as Rhythm Paradise Megamix in Europe, and Rhythm Sesang: The Best+ (리듬 세상 더 베스트플러스?, Rhythm World: The Best+) in Korea, is the fourth game in the Rhythm Heaven Series, released for the Nintendo 3DS on June 11th, 2015 in Japan, June 16th, 2016 in North America, October 21st, 2016 in Europe, October 22nd, 2016 in Australia, and December 1st, 2016 in South Korea.

Notably, the North American version was only available as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop while other regions also received physical releases. As the Nintendo eShop closed on March 27, 2023, the North American version can no longer be purchased.

Rhythm Games

Epilogue Wii Cheer Readers 2 OK.png

During the story of the game, the player helps a character named Tibby get back to Heaven World by completing various Rhythm Games and restoring the flow. On their way, they meet various characters who guide them through their various lands; as well as the Gatekeeper Trio who block their path. Throughout the game, Rupert pops in and out to inform the player of any events, such as something new being unlocked, or when a Perfect Campaign is going on.

Lush Woods

Once Tibby and the player finally reach Lush Woods, where the Lush Tower can be found, they meet Trey. He has been guarding the tower for a long time, and agrees to help Tibby reach Heaven World by having him and the player climb the tower, clearing Rhythm Games in order to restore the flow to the tower, and thus activate its power.

Lush Tower

Mamarin Palace

After clearing all of the lands along the way, the duo finally reach Mamarin Palace, which is also Tibby's Mom. Here they meet Colin, who has been looking for Tibby to inform him that Tibby's Mom is in trouble. He asks the duo to climb up to the top of the palace to ask her face-to-face what's happened. To open the door however, they need to climb up the two towers next to the palace, clearing the Rhythm Games in them to restore the flow, and thus unlock the door to the palace proper.

The Rhythm Games in this section are the arrange versions. In some cases, these end up being the third version of some games, having a completely new name and description. Notably, Karate Man Senior is not an arrangement of any existing game, but is present here nonetheless.

Tibby's Mom

After clearing the Rhythm Games within Tibby's Mom and climbing to the top, Tibby tries talking to her. Although she doesn't respond, Tibby explains to her what has happened along his way back, meeting a lot of people, and learning that everyone else has troubles like him. He says he has decided to live as one who helps others, but still gets no response from his mother. She then exhales, revealing she was actually holding her breath to cure her hiccups the whole time, which is what caused the spooky voice and gloomy skies in Heaven World.

Shop

Saffron's Shop (available after The First Gate) allows the player to purchase Rhythm Items, Music and Rhythm Games. All games in the Shop are returning from previous games in the series, though they can only be played in the Museum. Versions of them can be played on the Challenge Train even before they are bought.

Café

In the Café, the player can access (from left to right) StreetPass Terrace, the Stable, talking to the Barista and other characters, the Shop, Museum, Badges, Memories, and Mascots.

Remixes, Endless Games, TempoUpExtra1.png Games, and Two-Player Games aren't listed.) Many of the Arrange versions have new patterns or new cues, which also exist in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, but are never used. It is debatable how many of these were actually intended to appear in the game or were simply leftover data from the porting process.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix Demo

Rhythm Heaven Megamix Demo (リズムてんごく ザ・ベストプラス 体験版?, Rhythm Tengoku: The Best Plus Taikenban), also known as Rhythm Paradise Megamix Demo in Europe, and 리듬 세상 더 베스트플러스 체험판 (Lideum Sesang Deo Beseuteu Peulleoseu Cheheompan?, Rhythm World The Best Plus Trial Version) in Korea, was released on June 15th, 2016 in North America and September 2nd, 2016 in Europe and Australia, along with the full release of Rhythm Heaven Megamix. It includes limited versions of the Rhythm Games and Challenge Land from the full version.

When choosing "Try Rhythm Games!", the player goes directly to the Introduction (which can be skipped), after which they meet Tibby, who rapid-fires through several games, and comments after each one. If the player gets an OK or higher, they move on to the next game.

All epilogues are replaced with one thanking the player for playing the game (all of which play the "OK" jingle). It depicts Tibby calling out to the player. The text differs between the Flag of the United States.svg and Flag of the United Kingdom (3-5).svg versions.

Although the player is shown to get Coins after clearing a Rhythm Game, the counter gets reset after each game.

After clearing all the Rhythm Games, Tibby presents the player with a "Remix" featuring several games from the full version to prompt the player to purchase it.

The "Challenge Land (Multiplayer)" mode contains three courses not found in the full version; however, it is not playable solo. There are also two Rhythm Games exclusive to this mode.

Rhythm Tengoku: The Uta Matsuri+

Rhythm Tengoku: The Uta Matsuri+ (リズムてんごく ザ・歌祭りプラス?, Rhythm Heaven: The Song Festival+) was a promotional concert for the game held at AKIHABARA Backstage pass in Japan and streamed live on nicovideo on June 26th, 2015. It was hosted by Araken[1].

The songs performed during this concert were Thrilling! Is this love? by Ari~sa, Tonight by Mana Ogawa, Tokimeki no Story by Tokimekist (Mai-chan, Yurinko), Love Ooh Ooh Paradise by THE POSSIBLE, Classmate by Pajama Musume Club (Karen, Moeazu) and finally Thrilling! Is this love? (New Arrange Version), once again by Ari~sa with backing from all of the other singers.

The concert is notable for being the only time that the full versions of Tokimeki no Story and Classmate have been heard.

Reception

The game received favourable reviews from Famitsu reviewers, where it received a score of 34/40[2] and is known to be favorable on Metacritic with an average score of 83[3]. This game debuted at No. 1 in Japanese charts maintained by Media Create[4]. According to a report, this game sold over 500,000 copies in Japan by the end of 2015[5]. As of February 2016, the total sales in Japan reached 650,000 copies[6].

Trivia

  • This is the only Rhythm Heaven game to:
    • Not be available physically in every region, as the North American version was only released as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop, while all other regions also received a physical release.
    • No longer be available for purchase in North America, as the Nintendo eShop was the only place to purchase this version prior to its closing in March of 2023.
    • Have more than 50 Rhythm Games, totalling 104.
    • Have games with up to three versions, due to introducing "short" games.
    • Have no new Prologue jingles, aside from remixed ones from previous games and for Remixes.
  • This is the second time where Karate Man is the first Rhythm Game, after Rhythm Tengoku. It also features three Karate Man games as the end of a stage, like in Rhythm Heaven and Rhythm Heaven Fever.
  • While using Simple Tap mode, a similar character to the one in Rhythm Heaven appears on the Touch Screen.
  • The announcer in English is voiced by Marianna DeFazio, reused from Rhythm Heaven Fever.
  • There are two Challenge Train courses where many characters are replaced with WarioWare characters.
