This game includes 63 Rhythm Games from the previous three Rhythm Heaven games (18 of previous ones are located at the shop), 19 new ones, 12 "short" ones, 4 Endless Games, and 10 Remixes, making for a total of 108 games in all.
This game includes 63 Rhythm Games from the previous three Rhythm Heaven games (18 of which are unlocked through the Shop), 19 new ones, 12 shortened versions of previous games, 4 Endless Games (one from each previous title and one new), and 10 new Remixes, making for a total of 108 games in all.
Main Game
SpoilerIn the single player mode of the game, the player helps a character named Tibby get back to Heaven World 天の国 (mispelled as "Hevven World" by Tibby) by completing various rhythm games and restoring the flow. On his way, he meets various characters, such as Boondog, Dieter, Shep, Donna, Hairold, Eglantine, Trey, Bertram, Betty, & Philip, who guide him through their various lands; as well as the Gatekeeper Trio, which consists of Saffron, Saltwater, and Paprika.
Notably, the North American version was only available as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop while other regions also received physical releases. As the Nintendo eShop closed on March 27, 2023, the North American version can no longer be purchased.
Challenge Land
Rhythm Games
Challenge Land is a new feature in Megamix. It becomes playable once the player clears the Lush Tower. It also allows up to 4 players, either through Local Multiplayer or Download Play. When clearing the course for the first time, Flow Balls are rewarded to players to spend it at Café. Those playing through Download Play cannot receive rewards, and are instead encouraged to purchase the full game.
SpoilerDuring the story of the game, the player helps a character named Tibby get back to Heaven World by completing various Rhythm Games and restoring the flow. On their way, they meet various characters who guide them through their various lands; as well as the Gatekeeper Trio who block their path. Throughout the game, Rupert pops in and out to inform the player of any events, such as something new being unlocked, or when a Perfect Campaign is going on.
Perfect Campaign
Perfect Campaign returns in Rhythm Heaven Megamix and up to 3 attempts are allowed before receiving the perfect. However, unlike from previous games in the series, some minor changes were made. Needing to navigate to the Rhythm Game where the Campaign is no longer necessary, as it can be accessed directly through the booth at Challenge Land. If the player missed during the attempt, the game ends with the message "You Missed..." instead of continuing like a normal game. After a "perfect" is obtained, the player no longer receives music or Reading Material; instead, each Perfect Campaign awards one Flow Ball, which can used to purchase Rhythm Items, Music, or Rhythm Games at the Shop.
The majority of Rhythm Games appear over the course of the story, where they are grouped into stages of four; one from Rhythm Tengoku, one from Rhythm Heaven, one from Rhythm Heaven Fever, and one new for Rhythm Heaven Megamix. All towers have a Remix at the end as well.

The games in Honeybee Land, Machine Land, Citrus Land and Barbershop Land are shorter variants of the original games with new music and visuals. They take the original name and description of the games, while the actual original games are given new names, which in English often coincide with the Arrange games in previous installments.

Once Tibby and the player finally reach Lush Woods, where the Lush Tower can be found, they meet Trey. He has been guarding the tower for a long time, and agrees to help Tibby reach Heaven World by having him and the player climb the tower, clearing Rhythm Games in order to restore the flow to the tower, and thus activate its power.

After Tibby and the player clear Lush Tower, Tibby tries to use its power to return to Heaven World, but it is not enough. Trey informs him that they need a rainbow of power for that, after which the six towers appear. Tibby and the player are allowed to tackle them in any order they wish. The short versions from the lands return as "powered-up" Rhythm Games, which are the original versions, but renamed to avoid confusion. Many of their names and descriptions now coincide with their arrange versions, however.

After the Lush Tower is cleared, the credits roll and Tibby attempts to return to Heaven World, only to crash back down. Some "powered-up" Rhythm Games also become available. The games in Honeybee Tower, Machine Tower, Citrus Tower and Barbershop Tower are actually the original games, but were renamed as the short variants in the respective lands take on the original name.

After the six towers of Lush Woods are cleared, they focus their power into Lush Tower to create a rainbow, which allows Tibby to return to Heaven World. The story appears to be finished, however, Tibby sends a letter to the player saying there's trouble in Heaven World, asking for their help.

The player, using the letter to climb up the rainbow, reaches Heaven World. Tibby explains that he doesn't know what's happened, but trusts that with the player's help, they can fix it. They pass through a few lands, helping Tibby's friends by clearing Rhythm Games along the way in order to progress. During this, they learn of a strange sound that was heard coming from Tibby's house, and dark clouds covered the sky. This lead to the inhabitants feeling depressed, not knowing who could've done this.

From the Shop
The Rhythm Games in this section are the arrange versions. In some cases, these end up being the third version of some games, having a completely new name and description. Notably, Karate Man Senior is not an arrangement of any existing game, but is present here nonetheless.
Saffron's Shop allows the player to purchase Rhythm Items, Music and Rhythm Games. All games in the Shop are returning from previous games in the series. Some of them can be played on the Challenge Train even before they are bought.

After clearing the Rhythm Games within Tibby's Mom and climbing to the top, Tibby tries talking to her. Although she doesn't respond, Tibby explains to her what has happened along his way back, meeting a lot of people, and learning that everyone else has troubles like him. He says he has decided to live as one who helps others, but still gets no response from his mother. She then exhales, revealing she was actually holding her breath to cure her hiccups the whole time, which is what caused the spooky voice and gloomy skies in Heaven World.

Café
Café
In the Café, the player can access (from left to right) the Terrace, the Stable, the Barista and other characters, the Shop, Museum, Badges, Memories, and Mascots.
In the Café, the player can access (from left to right) Terrace, the Stable, talking to the Barista and other characters, the Shop, Museum, Badges, Memories, and Mascots. Each option is unlocked after certain points in the game. Notably, the Barista no longer helps the player skip games they are having trouble with; instead, Rupert shows up when it's time for that, and charges a fee to skip the game.
The first two options are unlocked after clearing Lush Tower. The last three are available by talking to the Museum Curator.

Endless Games
Endless Games
Endless Games return in Megamix, which includes one game from each installment, and a new one of its own. They are unlocked by completing all three Trials set by the Gatekeeper Trio on that game's Gate, after which the endless version will be available in the Museum.
Endless Games return in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, including one game from each installment, and a new one of its own. They are unlocked by completing all three Trials set by the Gatekeeper Trio on that game's Gate, after which the endless game will be available in the Museum.
StreetPass Terrace
Challenge Land
Whenever the player gets tagged by another player, the Cafe icon will display the Barista. For each player, the game displays their Mii, Flow, and Favorite Rhythm Game. Each player can be battled in Figure Fighter VS. This mode also has each character from the story to fight for those who can't use StreetPass.
Challenge Land is a new feature in Rhythm Heaven Megamix which allows up to 4 players to ride the Challenge Train though various courses consisting of Rhythm Games with altered rules. The Perfect Campaign returns, appearing in this section. If the player misses during an attempt, the game ends with the message "You Missed..." rather than continuing like a normal game. After a Perfect is obtained, the player does not receive a Gift. Instead, each campaign awards one Flow Ball, which can used to purchase Rhythm Games at the Shop. The Rhythm Items and Music also purchasable in the Shop serve the same purpose as the Gifts in previous games.
Missing Games
Missing Games
While most games returned in Megamix, 24 didn't make the cut. The following are the games from past installments of Rhythm Heaven that did not return for Rhythm Heaven Megamix. (Arrange games whose normal variant is in Rhythm Heaven Megamix are written in bold. Remixes, Endless Games, Games, and Two-Player Games aren't listed.) Many of these Arrange games have new patterns or new cues, which also exist in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, but are never used. It is debatable how many of these were actually intended to appear in the game or were simply leftover data from the porting process.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix (リズムてんごく ザ・ベストプラス?, Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+), also known as Rhythm Paradise Megamix in Europe, and Rhythm Sesang: The Best+ (리듬 세상 더 베스트플러스?, Rhythm World: The Best+) in Korea, is the fourth game in the Rhythm Heaven Series, released for the Nintendo 3DS on June 11th, 2015 in Japan, June 16th, 2016 in North America, October 21st, 2016 in Europe, October 22nd, 2016 in Australia, and December 1st, 2016 in South Korea.

Notably, the North American version was only available as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop while other regions also received physical releases. As the Nintendo eShop closed on March 27, 2023, the North American version can no longer be purchased.

Rhythm Games

Epilogue Wii Cheer Readers 2 OK.png

During the story of the game, the player helps a character named Tibby get back to Heaven World by completing various Rhythm Games and restoring the flow. On their way, they meet various characters who guide them through their various lands; as well as the Gatekeeper Trio who block their path. Throughout the game, Rupert pops in and out to inform the player of any events, such as something new being unlocked, or when a Perfect Campaign is going on.

The games in Honeybee Land, Machine Land, Citrus Land and Barbershop Land are short versions of the original games with new music and visuals. They take the original name and description of the games, while the long versions, being the actual original games, are given new names, which in English often coincide with the arrange versions in previous installments.

Earth World

At the beginning of the game, Tibby accidentally falls off Heaven World. A mysterious individual (the player) finds him, and agrees to help him return to Heaven World. The two see a Green Tower in the distance, and decide to go to it. They pass through various lands, helping various people with their troubles by clearing Rhythm Games along the way in order to progress.

Lush Woods

Once Tibby and the player finally reach Lush Woods, where the Lush Tower can be found, they meet Trey. He has been guarding the tower for a long time, and agrees to help Tibby reach Heaven World by having him and the player climb the tower, clearing Rhythm Games in order to restore the flow to the tower, and thus activate its power.

Lush Tower

After Tibby and the player clear Lush Tower, Tibby tries to use its power to return to Heaven World, but it is not enough. Trey informs him that they need a rainbow of power for that, after which the six towers appear. Tibby and the player are allowed to tackle them in any order they wish. The short versions from the lands return as "powered-up" Rhythm Games, which are the original versions, but renamed to avoid confusion. Many of their names and descriptions now coincide with their arrange versions, however.

After the six towers of Lush Woods are cleared, they focus their power into Lush Tower to create a rainbow, which allows Tibby to return to Heaven World. The story appears to be finished, however, Tibby sends a letter to the player saying there's trouble in Heaven World, asking for their help.

Heaven World

The player, using the letter to climb up the rainbow, reaches Heaven World. Tibby explains that he doesn't know what's happened, but trusts that with the player's help, they can fix it. They pass through a few lands, helping Tibby's friends by clearing Rhythm Games along the way in order to progress. During this, they learn of a strange sound that was heard coming from Tibby's house, and dark clouds covered the sky. This lead to the inhabitants feeling depressed, not knowing who could've done this.

Mamarin Palace

After clearing all of the lands along the way, the duo finally reach Mamarin Palace, which is also Tibby's Mom. Here they meet Colin, who has been looking for Tibby to inform him that Tibby's Mom is in trouble. He asks the duo to climb up to the top of the palace to ask her face-to-face what's happened. To open the door however, they need to climb up the two towers next to the palace, clearing the Rhythm Games in them to restore the flow, and thus unlock the door to the palace proper.

The Rhythm Games in this section are the arrange versions. In some cases, these end up being the third version of some games, having a completely new name and description. Notably, Karate Man Senior is not an arrangement of any existing game, but is present here nonetheless.

Tibby's Mom

After clearing the Rhythm Games within Tibby's Mom and climbing to the top, Tibby tries talking to her. Although she doesn't respond, Tibby explains to her what has happened along his way back, meeting a lot of people, and learning that everyone else has troubles like him. He says he has decided to live as one who helps others, but still gets no response from his mother. She then exhales, revealing she was actually holding her breath to cure her hiccups the whole time, which is what caused the spooky voice and gloomy skies in Heaven World.

Shop

Saffron's Shop (available after The First Gate) allows the player to purchase Rhythm Items, Music and Rhythm Games. All games in the Shop are returning from previous games in the series, though they can only be played in the Museum. Versions of them can be played on the Challenge Train even before they are bought.

Café

In the Café, the player can access (from left to right) StreetPass Terrace, the Stable, talking to the Barista and other characters, the Shop, Museum, Badges, Memories, and Mascots. Each option is unlocked after certain points in the game. Notably, the Barista no longer helps the player skip games they are having trouble with; instead, Rupert shows up when it's time for that, and charges a fee to skip the game.

Endless Games

Endless Games return in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, including one game from each installment, and a new one of its own. They are unlocked by completing all three Trials set by the Gatekeeper Trio on that game's Gate, after which the endless game will be available in the Museum.

Challenge Land

While most games returned in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, 24 didn't make the cut. The following are the games from past installments of Rhythm Heaven that did not return for Rhythm Heaven Megamix. (Arrange versions whose long version is in Rhythm Heaven Megamix are highlighted in this font. Remixes, Endless Games, TempoUpExtra1.png Games, and Two-Player Games aren't listed.) Many of the Arrange versions have new patterns or new cues, which also exist in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, but are never used. It is debatable how many of these were actually intended to appear in the game or were simply leftover data from the porting process.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix Demo (リズムてんごく ザ・ベストプラス 体験版?, Rhythm Tengoku: The Best Plus Taikenban), also known as Rhythm Paradise Megamix Demo in Europe, and 리듬 세상 더 베스트플러스 체험판 (Lideum Sesang Deo Beseuteu Peulleoseu Cheheompan?, Rhythm World The Best Plus Trial Version) in Korea, was released on June 15th, 2016 in North America and September 2nd, 2016 in Europe and Australia, along with the full release of Rhythm Heaven Megamix. It includes limited versions of the Rhythm Games and Challenge Land from the full version.

When choosing "Try Rhythm Games!", the player goes directly to the Introduction (which can be skipped), after which they meet Tibby, who rapid-fires through several games, and comments after each one. If the player gets an OK or higher, they move on to the next game.

All epilogues are replaced with one thanking the player for playing the game (all of which play the "OK" jingle). It depicts Tibby calling out to the player. The text differs between the Flag of the United States.svg and Flag of the United Kingdom (3-5).svg versions.

Although the player is shown to get Coins after clearing a Rhythm Game, the counter gets reset after each game.

After clearing all the Rhythm Games, Tibby presents the player with a "Remix" featuring several games from the full version to prompt the player to purchase it.

The "Challenge Land (Multiplayer)" mode contains three courses not found in the full version; however, it is not playable solo. There are also two Rhythm Games exclusive to this mode.

Rhythm Tengoku: The Uta Matsuri+ (リズムてんごく ザ・歌祭りプラス?, Rhythm Heaven: The Song Festival+) was a promotional concert for the game held at AKIHABARA Backstage pass in Japan and streamed live on nicovideo on June 26th, 2015. It was hosted by Araken[1].

The songs performed during this concert were Thrilling! Is this love? by Ari~sa, Tonight by Mana Ogawa, Tokimeki no Story by Tokimekist (Mai-chan, Yurinko), Love Ooh Ooh Paradise by THE POSSIBLE, Classmate by Pajama Musume Club (Karen, Moeazu) and finally Thrilling! Is this love? (New Arrange Version), once again by Ari~sa with backing from all of the other singers.

The concert is notable for being the only time that the full versions of Tokimeki no Story and Classmate have been heard.

Reception

The game received favourable reviews from Famitsu reviewers, where it received a score of 34/40[2] and is known to be favorable on Metacritic with an average score of 83[3]. This game debuted at No. 1 in Japanese charts maintained by Media Create[4]. According to a report, this game sold over 500,000 copies in Japan by the end of 2015[5]. As of February 2016, the total sales in Japan reached 650,000 copies[6].

Trivia

  • This is the only Rhythm Heaven game to:
    • Not be available physically in every region, as the North American version was only released as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop, while all other regions also received a physical release.
    • No longer be available for purchase in North America, as the Nintendo eShop was the only place to purchase this version prior to its closing in March of 2023.
    • Have more than 50 Rhythm Games, totalling 104.
    • Have games with up to three versions, due to introducing "short" games.
    • Have no new Prologue jingles, aside from remixed ones from previous games and for Remixes.
  • This is the second time where Karate Man is the first Rhythm Game, after Rhythm Tengoku. It also features three Karate Man games as the end of a stage, like in Rhythm Heaven and Rhythm Heaven Fever.
  • While using Simple Tap mode, a similar character to the one in Rhythm Heaven appears on the Touch Screen.
  • The announcer in English is voiced by Marianna DeFazio, reused from Rhythm Heaven Fever.
  • There are two Challenge Train courses where many characters are replaced with WarioWare characters.
