Rhythm Heaven
Lockstep consists of the following versions in Rhythm Heaven:
Internal Name | Image | Used in |
---|---|---|
backbeat
|
Lockstep Remix 10 | |
backbeat/ver2
|
Lockstep 2 Remix 8 | |
backbeat/ver3
|
Remix 6 |
Unused Content
There is an unused sprite of an arrow pointing upward.
The Remix 6 version of Lockstep portrays the Stepswitchers forming a portrait of Francesco Onofrio Manfredini, an obscure Italian Baroque musician. As they never zoom out in the remix, this image goes unused. Aside from this, there is a darker green background color meant for the offbeat, which goes unused. All of the Stepswitchers' sprites for the intermediate zoom outs and the palettes for them as well as the offbeat remain unchanged from the original Lockstep, resulting in somewhat glitchy visuals that go unseen during the remix[1].
Regional Differences
The colors for Lockstep and Lockstep 2 were softened in the international releases of Rhythm Heaven, presumably to reduce seizures. The original colors are used in all versions of Rhythm Heaven Megamix.

The closest to farthest zoom out's sprite is unfinished in Rhythm Tengoku Gold, where a column of tiles is missing on the left side while the Stepswitchers are marching on the offbeat. This is fixed in the international releases of Rhythm Heaven[2].

The unused sprite of an arrow pointing upward still exists in this game.
