According to the debug menu of Rhythm Heaven Megamix, a short version of Flock Step was planned. This is further supported by the existence of strings for the short version's Rhythm Item in Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+'s data, though they are mostly blank. The one string that is present is virtually identical to the equivalent in the long version.

The debug menu also contains a reference to RVL鳥の大群02 (rvl_birds_02?), suggesting the presence of an arrange version of Flock Step, being after the unused short and used long versions. However, with the entry being labeled with a number rather than a letter, there being no pre-existing arrange version of Flock Step and no other data anywhere for this version, this entry is most likely the result of the developers copy-pasting and simply not removing the excess entry.
