Rhythm Heaven Megamix |
Charging Chicken (チキンレース?, Chicken Race) is the 27th Rhythm Game seen at The Third Gate and can be unlocked as an Endless Game by beating the Gatekeeper Trio's trials in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
Gameplay
The player must charge up Mr. Chicken's electric car so he can make it across a bridge to the next location. The player must charge the car for 4-16 beats, with each beat fueling the car for another yard. Later on, the counter is not shown, requiring the player to count on their own. After releasing the pump, the electric car zooms off across a stone bridge, which begins to fall. The objective is to charge the car such that it stops on the piece of land on the other side, where the cycle continues. The tempo and music change later on to throw off the player. The player is given a set amount of lives depending on the difficulty, which cannot be recovered.
Several islands are described as one of many real world locations, but the island themselves are indistinguishable. As the game continues, the scenery changes from day and night, and even change to space (giving Mr. Chicken a helmet) or even another dimension.
Trials
The player has the option to select which difficulty they want:
- Saffron Trial: The player has 4 lives and must fuel for 4-16 yards. The last round won't count the beats.
- Saltwater Trial: The player has 3 lives and must fuel for 8-12 yards. The last two rounds won't count the beats.
- Paprika Trial: The player has 1 Life and must fuel for 8-16 yards. The music and numbers may mute. The last three rounds won't count the beats.
Controls
- Ⓐ (Hold)/Tap (Hold): Charge the car
- Ⓐ (Release)/Tap (Release): Charge!
Timing Display
- Perfect!/Ace!?: The chicken's car is fueled just enough to stop on the next plot of land.
- Early!/Late!?: The chicken's car is fueled either too little, causing the car to fall just short of the plot of land, or too much and overshoot it. Either way, one life is deducted from the counter.
- Miss...?: If fueled way too little, the pump pulls out, and the cars stays in place. If fueled way too much, the car explodes, leaving the chicken roasted. Either way, the player is prompted to try again without deducting a life.

I've been driving for almost three years now. I get pulled over all the time, and I keep expecting a police officer to comment on my license picture--I look so good! |
(High Score: 20)
Golden Driver's License |
Seriously, Look at It |

When my safe driving record got me the gold driver's license, I asked if I could keep my same picture. It's such a cute picture of me! |
