Figure Fighter VS (マッスル人形VS?, Muscle Ningyō VS) is a game in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, available after the player clears Airboarder, and can be accessed at StreetPass Terrace (すれちがい テラス?, Surechigai Terrace) on the far left of the Café.
Here, the player can fight other players through StreetPass, as well as the characters from the game's story.
Gameplay
Two Muscle Dolls fight each other by punching a pump, which inflates the opponent's balloon. The player is red, and the opponent is blue. The balloons have a picture of the character's face on it, and a gold sign in the middle of the arena reads 'VS'. The background scenery has a blue sky, green grass, and a giant mug. The touch screen displays a white A button that is synced with the player's A presses.
The game uses the same controls as Figure Fighter, with the player competing against a CPU player representing the opponent. The opponent's Flow determins how good their rhythm is, and thus the difficulty of the battle. The winner is the one who pops the other's balloon. The balloon inflates more the closer the player is to perfect timing.
Controls
- Ⓐ/Tap: Press the button
Timing Display
- Perfect!/Ace!?: The Doll grows muscles to throw a more powerful punch. If hit with frame-perfect timing, the button flashes white and inflates the balloon more than normal.
- Early!/Late!?: The Doll grows muscles, but misses the button.
- Miss...?: The Doll punches the button without growing muscles, and the opponent's balloon doesn't inflate.
Opponents
The opponents faced from the story are, in order, Boondog, Dieter, Shep, Donna, Hairold, Eglantine, Trey, Bertram, Betty, Philip, Colin, Saffron, Saltwater, Paprika, and Barista. They each have a set Flow and Favorite Rhythm Game.
Whenever the player gets tagged by someone, the Café icon will display the Barista, showing there's something going on. The player can see the opponent's Mii, Flow, and favorite Rhythm Game, as with the story fighters. Flow represents the player's average score from all the Rhythm Games and favorite Rhythm Game is simply the one which has been played the most.
Rewards
When a new opponent has been beaten, the player is given a treasure chest containing Coins and Turnips. If the opponent is one of the characters from the story, beating them unlocks the next character in line. After beating every character from the story, they will randomly be chosen as "new" so the player can still collect treasure chests. Each chest contains a number of Coins and Turnips (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) to feed The Goat within the Stable.
Winning for the first time, winning against 15 opponents, getting 10 treasure chests and getting 50 treasure chests are each commemorated with their own Badges.
Trivia
- The music is taken from Rhythm Fighter, albeit with a shortened intro.
- In Simple Tap mode, the "A" on the button is removed.
