The Goat (ヤギ?, Yagi) is a character found at the Stable in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
Story
As depicted in Rhythm Tengoku The Best Plus Comic 10ヤギとマスター (The Goat and Barista) and the game itself, the Barista at the Café was hoping to be able to provide fresh milk for the coffee[1], so he bought The Goat from Saffron for real cheap, who claimed her milk is delicious. The goat begins to chow down on turnips, causing the Barista to worry, as she hasn't produced milk, and is only eating every day. He worries that the goat is only getting bigger, and might not fit in the Café soon. He thinks about changing the way he raises the goat when a customer, presumably the player, comes in.
After the player and Tibby clear The Second Gate, the Barista asks them to help raise the goat, although he is not confident it would lead to her producing milk. She stays at the Stable and can be fed with turnips[1]. After the player and Tibby clear Lush Tower, the Barista informs them of his accidental discovery that the goat can be fed with Coins as well[2]. The more the player feeds the goat, the more she levels up. At certain levels, she lays a golden egg, containing a Mascot inside[3]. When Eglantine visits the Café, she may compliment the player for raising the goat, as she believes it to be a difficult task[4].
The Goat appears in another Rhythm Tengoku The Best Plus Comic, being 22ヤギとイエモン (Goat and Saffron). Here, as the Barista is too small to take the goat out for a walk, Saffron tries fruitlessly to achieve this task. As he's struggling, the goat ends up running away. Barista watches from afar and comments on the rhythm resulting from the commotion.

Trivia
- The goat sometimes reacts to missed turnips; for example, she may open her mouth desperately and cry, scratch herself, or she may huff. She may fall asleep if left alone for too long.
- The goat shakes her head disapprovingly if the player tries to throw turnips when they don't have any.
- When viewing the Stable at the Café, the goat can be seen either idling, sleeping, eating, walking on a treadmill, or dancing to music.
- The goat's artwork and Mascot depict her in her temporary golden form, which she has a chance to transform into if she is fed a golden turnip, rather than her normal, white furred appearance.
- Both the manual and unused assets suggest that the goat would at times go out for a walk, and as such the Stable minigame would be unavailable, requiring the player to play more Rhythm Games while waiting for her to come back[5][6]. This never occurs in the game, and the Stable is always available after being unlocked.
- This unused event is referenced in her Mascot profile, which states that she dislikes taking walks, as well as one of the comics which focuses on Saffron's attempts to take her out on one.
- Other unused text in Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+ suggests the player would've been able to buy multiple kinds of goat at the Shop[7], namely a Normal Goat (ふつうのヤギ?, Futsū no Yagi)[8], a Fat Goat (デブなヤギ?, Debuna Yagi)[9], a Child Goat (子ヤギ?, Ko Yagi)[10], a Golden Goat (ゴールデンヤギ?, Golden Yagi)[11], and a Goat Girl (ヤギガール?, Yagi Girl)[12]. In the final game, there is only one goat who is unlocked through regular progression, and she can transform into a golden form for a brief period after eating a golden turnip.
- In supplementary material such as Play Nintendo, the goat is referred to as a male[13]. It is referred to as a female in the game itself[1] and in the manual[5].
- It is possible that Saffron lied about the goat's gender when selling it, which would explain why it doesn't produce any milk.

So I was thinking that it'd be nice to have fresh milk for the coffee here, right? ...And, long story short, there's a goat living here now. Yes. A goat. So far, though, she hasn't produced any milk, even though she's always eating. Right. The favor I was going to ask: Will you help me raise my goat? I don't know if she'll ever actually produce milk, but... I feel like feeding her can only lead to good things. So, what do you think? It won't take much of your time. And it's fun to feed her. You can feed her the turnips from the garden next to the stable. Feel free to pick 'em all. They grow back real quick. Please...please take good care of my baby!" ~ Barista, Rhythm Heaven Megamix

I mention this because I know you've gotten a few coins from the games. Don't spend them all in one goat!" ~ Barista, Rhythm Heaven Megamix
