What could be better than a stroll in the starlight? How about a series of jumps in the starlight? |
Rhythm Heaven Megamix |
Night Walk (ナイトウォーク?, Naitouōku) is the 2nd Rhythm Game of Stage 4 (20th overall) in Rhythm Tengoku and the 2nd of Shop No. 1 (92st overall), costing 10 Flow Balls, in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
The arrange version, Night Walk 2, appears in Technician in Rhythm Tengoku.
Gameplay
In this game, the player takes control of Play-Yan who strolls through the path in the night sky while jumping on magical boxes. As he reaches the set of boxes via balloons, he begins walking on them. Passing though them causes the boxes to open, with the dot in the middle turning into various things depending on the player's timing and the boxes themselves. Jumping off the block with the right timing causes an object to sprout, and a star to grow in the sky. If all of the stars are at their max size at the end of the game, the final box releases a small star which Play-Yan grabs on to.
Controls
- Ⓐ/Tap: Jump
Timing Display
- Perfect!/Ace!?: Play-Yan jumps from the box, spawning either a magic flower with a heart blossom, a lollipop, or an umbrella from it. If the sky is filled with stars, the last platform causes Play-Yan to rise up while holding a small star.
- Early!/Late!?: Play-Yan jumps from the box, but the object comes out only halfway, with a red ✖ over it. If the sky is filled with stars, the last platform causes Play-Yan to rise up while holding a small star. In Rhythm Tengoku, if the player jumps on the first possible frame, this causes a magic flower with a heart blossom to come out halfway instead, leading Play-Yan to jump onto the next platform and inevitably fall off.
- Miss...?: Play-Yan walks over the box, sending out a music note. This does not actually count as a miss on its own. If the player does not jump from a box on the edge of a platform, Play-Yan will grab the ledge, and fall down as the platforms dissapear. If this happens, the game ends with a Try Again and score of 0, regardless of how well the player played up to that point. If the player didn't open enough boxes to fill the sky with stars, the final platform doesn't release anything, leading Play-Yan to jump onto a lone platform with no path to continue, resulting in him falling down.

Trivia
- This is one of the few games that doesn't feature a Practice in Rhythm Tengoku, however it did receive a tutorial in the arcade version, and a practice in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
- The layout of the steps in the middle of the game is randomized.
- The objects that appear out of the boxes act as instruments in the song. The heart flowers add drums, the lollipops being snares, and the umbrellas - cymbal accents.
- Interestingly, the final platform which releases a star also plays the cymbal accent in Rhythm Tengoku, but no sound effect is played at all in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
- In Rhythm Heaven Megamix, if the player jumps from the platform and releases the star, then immediately attempts to input a jump again within a small window, it is possible to cause the star to disappear, resulting in Play-Yan rising up without holding anything.
- This game, Quiz Show, Night Walk 2, and Night Walk in Rhythm Heaven Fever, are the only Rhythm Games that can be ended prematurely before the song is finished.
