The player controls the twelfth girl (bottom row, the farthest right). Throughout the song, there are many vocal cues in the form of "cheers" that indicate different patterns. To get a hit, the player must flip/spin their book at the right time. The cheers include:

- "One! Two! Three!": Starting from the top, each row of girls flips their book on a word. The player needs to flip on the "Three!".
The player controls the bottom right girl of the [[School Library Pep Squad]], who are cheering inside the school library. Throughout the game, the girls perform five distinct cheers. They include:
*{{Nihongo|One! Two! Three!|1! 2! 3!}}: Each row of girls flips their book on each word, from top to bottom.
- "It's up to you!": Starting from the left, each column of girls flips their book on a word. The player need to flip on the "you!".
*{{Nihongo|It's up to you!|Hey! You Can Do!}}: Each column of girls flips their book on each word, from left to right.
*{{Nihongo|Rah-rah sis boom bah-BOOM!|Never Give Up!}}: Every girl flips their book in a "wave" motion on each syllable, from top left to bottom right.
- "Let's go read a buncha books!": Starting from the top left corner, the girls quickly flip their books as a "wave" in a diagonal pattern. The player needs to flip on the "books!".
*{{Nihongo|Let's go read a buncha books!|Let's Everybody Go!}}: Like the previous cheer, but faster. Sometimes, the girls exclaim "Yay!" upon successfully doing this cheer.
*{{Nihongo|OK, it's on!|OK Don't Mind!}}: Instead of flipping, the girls spin their books simultaneously on the third word, and open them to form one of three images on the fourth word.
- "Rah-rah sis boom bah-BOOM!": Starting from the top left corner, the girls will do the motion in "Let's go read a buncha books!", but at a slower pace. The player needs to flip on the "BOOM!"
- "OK, it's on!": This cue acts in a different way. Instead of flipping, the girls will instead spin their books and then open them to form a design (see the "Trivia" section for all the designs that appear). The player must start spinning on the "it's" and stop on the "on!".
Throughout the song, the player will have to perform a variety of these cheers. Each one always stays at the same speed, but the distance between cheers can vary.
*Barely: None for this rhythm game. A barely counts as a hit.

Cheer Readers
You know who doesn't get enough support? People studying at the library. Let's cheer these dedicated students on!
The player controls the bottom right girl of the School Library Pep Squad, who are cheering inside the school library. Throughout the game, the girls perform five distinct cheers. They include:
One! Two! Three! (1! 2! 3!?): Each row of girls flips their book on each word, from top to bottom.
It's up to you! (Hey! You Can Do!?): Each column of girls flips their book on each word, from left to right.
Rah-rah sis boom bah-BOOM! (Never Give Up!?): Every girl flips their book in a "wave" motion on each syllable, from top left to bottom right.
Let's go read a buncha books! (Let's Everybody Go!?): Like the previous cheer, but faster. Sometimes, the girls exclaim "Yay!" upon successfully doing this cheer.
OK, it's on! (OK Don't Mind!?): Instead of flipping, the girls spin their books simultaneously on the third word, and open them to form one of three images on the fourth word.
Perfect!/Ace!?: The player flips, spins or opens the book on the beat, depending on the cue. If the player's book is facing the wrong way, the girl flips it twice to correct it.
Early!/Late!?: The player flips, spins or opens the book off the beat, causing it to tilt, the player's girl to blush in embarrassment, and the other girls to look at her. When opening the book, the player's girl holds it too low.
Miss...?: The player's book tilts with a faltering noise. Flipping the book when the player is not supposed to does so with a "doink", potentially having the book face the wrong way. In Rhythm Heaven Fever, if the player releases Ⓐ+Ⓑ together when they're not supposed to, the girl opens the book on the wrong page. While spinning the book, releasing only Ⓐ or only Ⓑ in Rhythm Heaven Fever, or just Ⓑ in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, simply causes the book to stop at a tilted angle. In all cases, the action makes a "doink" noise, the girl blushes in embarrassment, and the other girls look at her.

You were kinda out of sync... You fell to pieces near the end.
Eh. Passable.
Great cheering! You kept in sync where it counted.
Since the Cheer Readers started, the library has become quite the popular hangout. Apparently when people need a quiet place to read, they're going to the playground.
