Air Rally 2 (かえってきた バドミントン?, Kaettekita Badominton), known in Rhythm Heaven Fever as Air Rally (バドミントン?, Badominton), is the 13th minigame in Rhythm Heaven Fever and the 35th minigame in Rhythm Heaven Megamix. It features Baxter and Forthington playing badminton in the sky. It's the sequel to Air Rally in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.

Gameplay

The gameplay is similar to the prequel, but the tempo is much faster. Every time Forthington hits the shuttlecock, the player must press A on the following beat to hit it back. When Forthington says “Ba-bum bum bum!”, before hitting a shuttlecock, the player must hit it back two beats later.

In addition to the increased tempo and altered aesthetics, the game will attempt to visually mislead the player by having the two planes distance from each other. The beat remains the same, however, at any distance. The lighting will also change overtime, making the characters appear silhouetted.

Controls

  • Ⓐ/Tap: Swing racket

This won't end well... Let's concentrate on flying for now. The only way to play badminton!

Mayday, mayday!

Let's just try flying for now.

High altitude badminton is great!

I blame you entirely for this. ANOTHER tied game? Outta my way, duck! I've got a rally to maintain!

Ever since Baxter started using this racket, I haven't been able to keep up with him! I can't believe how much better he's gotten--I must practice...and maybe buy a new racket!

Skill Star

The Skill Star appears on the two slow rallies just before the background changes to night in the middle of the game.

Trivia

  • Sometimes the Blue Birds and their captain from Rhythm Heaven fly through the sky in the background, replacing the normal birds. A Blue Bird can also be seen in the Superb epilogue screen.
  • At the end of the game, Forthington says “Good job!” (“You deserve a treat!” in Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise). If you miss the last shot of the game, Forthington instead says, "Come on! You can't miss the last shot! How lame is that? Anyway, good game!"
  • There is no practice for this game in Megamix, despite the presence of a new feature: Forthington moving further away from Baxter. This is one of a few times that a new feature wasn’t given or mentioned in a practice; the others being Night Walk 2, Bon Dance, Karate Man 2 (GBA), Marcher 2, Sneaky Spirits 2, the GBA sequel, Karate Man, The Dazzles 2, & Glee Club 2 (DS).
  • This is one of the few games in the franchise to require player input after the music finishes. Other games like this are Remix 4 (GBA), Remix 5 (GBA), Air Batter 2, Lockstep, Fan Club 2, Lockstep 2, and Flock Step.
  • The second "Ba-bum bum bum!" was changed in Megamix.
  • A Threefish from Catch of the Day appears in the sprite sheet for this game, but it went completely unused.
  • The amount of clouds in the game was reduced in Megamix.
