Night Walk (ナイトウォーク?, Night Walk) is the 20th game in Rhythm Tengoku and the 92nd game in Rhythm Heaven Megamix. In this game, you are controlling Play-Yan who must stroll through the path in the night sky while jumping on magical boxes. A sequel is unlocked later in Rhythm Tengoku called Night Walk 2.
Gameplay
As Play-Yan lands on the path, boxes will be seen below him. This is a visual cue to jump. Successfully doing this will open the boxes and make them blossom into various things such as hearts, lollipops, and umbrellas. The more boxes that are open, the more stars will appear in the sky in order to reach the goal. The player will fall off before reaching the goal if more than 40 boxes are left unopened before then.
Controls
Button Mode
- A: Jump
Simple Tap Mode
- Tap: Jump
Timing Notes
- Hit: Play-Yan jumps from the box, sending out a plant with either a heart, lollipop, or umbrella on it.
- Barely: Play-Yan will jump, but the heart and jump will be lower than a Hit and the text "NG" (X in the international version of Megamix)", possibly standing for "Not Good" will appear. A barely counts as a miss.
- Miss: Play-Yan will walk by the box, sending out a music note. This does not actually count as a miss on its own. If the player does not jump from a box on the edge of a platform, the character will fall off the platform. If this happens, the game will immediately end, giving you a "Try Again" rating. This can also happen if you don't open enough boxes before the goal, in which the goal will not open, and Play-Yan will walk past it to eventually fall off.

Trivia
- The music for this rhythm game was taken from the GBA accessory "Play-Yan". It was a game for the Gameboy Advance that allowed you to play .mp3 files. This is also where the name of the character you play as comes from.
- Play-Yan's design in this game appears to have influenced later characters. (i.e. The Chorus Kids, Marshal, Miss Ribbon, Cam, etc.)
- Play-Yan appears in The Dazzles, hanging onto one of the stars that appear after certain correct poses. He also appears in Rhythm Heaven Fever, being on the books on one of the "OK, it's on!" cheers from the Cheer Readers sections of Remix 7.
- Both versions of the game stand out as one of the few games in the franchise to have the ability to fail instantly before judging your performance, with Quiz Show being the only other one.
- Night Walk makes a cameo appearance in the Nintendo 3DS Sound software as a background picture. Play-Yan's climbing speed depends on how the speed of the song is adjusted.
- The layout of the steps are randomized on every playthrough.
- This is one of the few games that doesn't feature a practice in Rhythm Tengoku, however it did receive a tutorial in the arcade version, and a practice in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
- In the Megamix version, the text "NG" was replaced with an X mark in the international version of the game.
- The objects that appear out of the boxes are actually instruments of the song. The hearts are the drums, the lollipops are the snares, and the umbrellas are the bass lines.
