Capture the excitement of car racing on film! There's a fortune to be made on the racing circuit! |
Rhythm Heaven Megamix |
Freeze Frame (カメラマン?, Kamera Man) is the 13th minigame in Rhythm Heaven and the 64th minigame in Rhythm Heaven Megamix. The player controls a photographer named T.J Snapper who must take pictures of racers passing by in Rhythm Kart.
Gameplay
In this game, the player controls a camera man taking photos of various race cars. Most of the time, they will be small yellow cars, and will give an audio cue with an obvious engine sound. Snap a picture of the racers that passes by you. There are two or three racers in a row. There's also a faster, carrot-shaped vehicle, where the audio cue for that will come as it's passing on the other side of the track. To get the picture, react two beats after the zoom is heard.
Controls
- Ⓐ/Tap: Take photo
Timing Display
- Perfect!/Ace!: The photographer will lower the camera and smile at his success. All pictures show the racers in the middle. A "Ding" like noise will sound and depending on the version you are playing, either a green thumbs up or a circle will appear.
- Early!/Late!: The photographer will lower the camera and tilt his head to the side and a tear will well up in one eye. At least one picture will show only the front half (if early) or the back half (if late) of the racer. A "DEE-DOO-DOP" like noise will sound and depending on what version you are playing, either a yellow thumbs up/down pointed sideways or a triangle will appear.
- Miss...: The photographer will lower the camera and streams of tears will pour from his face. At least one picture will show up as the race track only. A buzzer noise will sound and depending on what version you are playing, either a red thumbs down will appear or a cross will appear.

Trivia
- Sometimes, when taking a good picture of the racers, characters from Rhythm Tengoku will be seen in the pictures such as Rats, Sneaky Spirits, and Ninjas. Additionally, the drivers occasionally flash a peace sign at the camera.
- If you take a picture of a racer when the lady passes by, she can be seen on the right side of the photo. She looks pleased when hitting perfectly. When you shoot a photo too early or late, she will be annoyed.
- In addition, some characters from Rhythm Tengoku are part of the crowd in the background such as the RAPMEN, The Clappy Trio, the Space Dancers, and the Monkeys. In Rhythm Heaven Megamix, there are multiple monkeys and box-headed dancers with different colors.
- The game starts with a text "Rhythm Kart" sliding down. This could be a reference to Mario Kart.
- In the European version of Rhythm Heaven, the symbols were changed to hand signals; the cross was replaced by a red “thumbs down” gesture, the triangle was replaced by a yellow "fist" gesture and the circle was replaced by a green "thumbs up” gesture.
- This change is also present in all English versions of Rhythm Heaven Megamix.

- This game appears in the "Wario...Where? 2: The Sequel" Challenge Train. In this version, you play as Dr. Crygor, who takes pictures of Tiny Warios riding race cars, and Dribble and Spitz in their taxi. The ninjas who appear sometimes in the photos are replaced by Orbulon. In the crowd, Mona can be seen alongside the other characters.
