Gameplay
In this game, you're a camera man named T.J. Snapper taking photos of various race cars as they cross the finish line of a race track. Most of the time, they will be small yellow cars, and will give an audio cue of when they're about to cross the line with an obvious engine sound. Tap the screen to take a snap of a racer that passes by you. There are two or three racers in a row.
There's also a faster, carrot-shaped vehicle where the audio cue for that will come as it's passing on the other side of the track, quickly tap to take a snap as faster as possible.
Controls
- Tap: Take picture
Timing Notes
- Hit: The photographer will lower the camera and smile at his success. All pictures show the racers in the middle. A "Ding" like noise will sound and depending on the version you are playing, either a green thumbs up will appear or a circle will appear.
- Barely: The photographer will lower the camera and tilt his head to the side and a tear will well up in one eye. At least one picture, while the others are "Spot on!", will show only the front half or the back half of the racer. A "DEE-DOO-DOP" like noise will sound and depending on what version you are playing, either a yellow thumbs up pointing right will appear or a triangle will appear.
- Miss: The photographer will lower the camera and streams of tears will pour from his face. At least one picture will show up as the race track only. A buzzer noise will sound and depending on what version you are playing, either a red thumbs down will appear or a cross will appear.

Trivia
- Sometimes, when taking a good picture of the racers, characters from Rhythm Tengoku will be seen in the pictures such as Stealthy Rats, sneaky spirits, and ninjas (as seen in the photo). Also, the drivers occasionally flash the peace sign at the camera.
- In addition, some characters from Rhythm Tengoku are part of the forming crowd in the background such as Rap Men, The Clappy Trio, the space dancers, and the monkeys. But in Megamix, there are multiple monkeys and box-headed dancers with different colors.
- The game starts with a text "Rhythm Kart" sliding down. This can be a reference to Mario Kart, a racing spinoff Mario game.
- In the European version, the symbols were changed to hand signals; the cross was replaced by a green "thumbs down" gesture, the triangle was replaced by a yellow "fist" gesture and the circle was replaced by a green "thumbs up" gesture.
- That change was also done to all English versions of Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
- In the practice section, you practice taking a picture of a single yellow car. In the game, there are no single yellow cars.
- This is one of a few games to keep the same controls for tapping from Rhythm Heaven to Rhythm Heaven Megamix if you are using the stylus.
- The others being Munchy Monk, Lockstep, Shoot-'em-up, and Fillbots.
