You want a dancing challenge? Try dancing in zero gravity! IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!

— Space Dance Description (Rhythm Heaven Megamix)

Space Dance (スペースダンス^?, Space Dance) is the 17th game in Rhythm Tengoku and the 71st in Rhythm Heaven Megamix. A group of Space Dancers are dancing together, and the player must dance in time with the others. A sequel is unlocked later on in both games, called Cosmic Dance.

Gameplay

The player space dancer must follow the directions of the other partners and sometimes Space Gramps by pressing the corresponding button as the partners signal what to do. The three moves in this game are "And Pose!" ("Turn Right!" in the Japanese version), "Let's Sit Down!" and "Pa-Pa-Pa-Punch!".

Controls

Button Mode

• A: Punch
• Right: Pose
• Down: Squat

Simple Tap Mode

• Tap: Appropriate action

Timing Notes

• Hit: You follow with the rest of the dancers in synchronization.
• Barely: You follow with the rest of the characters, but you will be out of sync and hear a tick noise. Space Gramps will raise an eyebrow. A barely counts as a miss.
• Miss: The other dancers collide with you as they make their move while you do not. Space Gramps has an embarrassed look.

— Space Dance 2P Description

Space Dance also appears in the 2P mode of Rhythm Tengoku (Arcade) where it is referred to as Space Dance 2P (スペースダンス 2P^?, Space Dance 2P). It plays the same as the 1P version, except the first player controls the second dancer, and the second player controls the fourth dancer.

Trivia

• The Paddler's design in Rhythm Rally is based off of the Space Dancers.
• The Space Dancers make a cameo in Freeze Frame as crowd members.
•  Space Gramps is referenced in Tap Troupe's "Read Something", and in Remix 7's version of Cheer Readers.
•  There's a error surrounding this game: The Space Dancers' & Space Gramps' hands are white in the official art for both Tengoku and Megamix, when they should be yellow. This also applies to Megamix's rating screens.
• Oddly enough, in the arcade port's 2P version, P1 cannot hit the third dancer in line.
