Early Builds

The song for this game was originally performed in the first draft by a "designer girl" who is known to have voiced Space Dance and Kokuhaku Machine[1]. Based on internal data, this may be Sachiko Ikeo[2]. The line 「てんぷらあげたら コレステロールあがる」 (Tempura agetara, Cholesterol agaru?, Eating tempura, Cholesterol goes up) was once considered to be included in the lyrics of the song[3].

Unused Content

An unused version of the Practice theme used in The☆Bon Odori and Power Calligraphy (labeled "s_mario2_4"), sounds like the used version ("s_mario2"), but with a flute playing a simple melody that resembles the lyrics used in The☆Bon Odori[4]. There are also unused duplicates labeled "s_mario1" and "s_mario1_2", as well as the similarly named files "s_mario_melo1" and "s_mario_melo2", which is fittingly enough an excerpt of the Ground Theme from Super Mario Bros. The filename similarities may suggest it was intended to play alongside the theme itself[5].

Yagura-chan's sprite contains a full torso with legs, a large part of which is obscured by her clothes and the tower's guard rail.

In Rhythm Tengoku (Arcade), both The☆Bon Odori and Bon Dance have an unused copy of the microphone Yagura-chan holds in the latter game. They also both have sprites of some kind of spinning decoration with a heart on top.

(First, Nintendo created the basis for the song. I wrote the lyrics and music myself, asked a designer girl to sing the song, and had Tsunku♂ listen to it. Then, Tsunku♂ complimented me on my song, saying, "The singer is good". I had faint hopes that they might use the song as it was, but then, after that, Ami Tokito sang it for us. Even though it was just a draft, I put a lot of energy into it (laughs). 3. (I wanted to include the phrase "Ninki Agare ba, Kyūryō agaru" in some way. When I wrote the lyrics, I tried to rhyme it with "Hanabi agare ba~" and thought, "What else will go up?" I thought of things like, "Tempura agetara, Cholesterol agaru" (laughs). Also, for the part "Sore hikkurikaette Dondodonpa-n" I asked Nintendo to re-draw the characters spinning around. I thought the audience would be excited to see them spinning at a live performance.) ~ Tsunku♂, Rhythm Tengoku Zen Kyoku-shu STAFF'S VOICE
