Drum Lesson (ドラムレッスン?, Doramu Ressun) is a section found at the Omake Corner after clearing Remix 1 in Rhythm Tengoku. There are 19 different lessons hosted by Samurai Drummer, which can be unlocked with Medals.

Gameplay

The player, represented by an avatar named Anata (あなた?; lit. 'You'), must copy Samurai Drummer's patterns, who plays as long as the player remains idle. The player needs to copy the patterns four times in a row successfully to "LEVELUP" and move on to the next part of the lesson.

Above the two is the Timing Lamp (タイミングランプ?, Taimingu Ranpu), which flashes depending on the timing of each drum hit. The green in the center is "just right", while the farther off it goes, the lamp shows yellow, and finally red. Pressing START activates "SLOW" mode so the player can more easily analyze the patterns, although they cannot "LEVELUP" in this mode.

After completing a lesson, the player receives a rank based on how they did. The highest rank is an S rank, which requires 95 points or higher.

Controls

  • : Hit middle drum with right hand
  • : Hit kick drum with right foot
  • : Hi-hat/drumroll (depending on the lesson)
  • : Hit kick drum with left foot
  • : Hit middle drum with left hand
  • : Hit tom drum with left hand
  • : Hit left cymbal with left hand
  • : Hit right cymbal with right hand
  • Start: Toggle SLOW mode.
  • Select: Quit to the Drum Lesson menu.

Timing Display

  • Perfect!/Ace!?: Anata correctly matches Samurai Drummer's pattern. The "LEVELUP" meter progresses forward accordingly.
  • Early!/Late!?: Anata drums slightly offbeat and doesn't properly match Samurai Drummer's pattern.
  • Miss...?: Anata drums entirely offbeat and fails to match Samurai Drummer's pattern. The "LEVELUP" meter moves backwards and Samurai Drummer gives a shrug.
