Early Builds
This game was inspired by Tsunku♂'s dance lessons for the development team, where they would do a "finishing pose" after dancing in unison with long rests in between. The feeling of posing in sync, which was found to be completely different from dancing to a fixed rhythm, led to the game being about stopping the ghosts on a specific beat, with the second half requiring the player to count in their head to hit the ghosts even without being able to see or hear them.

Version 01 of Shiroi Obake uses the same graphics as version 00, with the only difference being the slowing down that occurs when hitting a ghost does not occur in version 01. This allows remixes to retain their natural flow even when Shiroi Obake is being played.

Sneaky Spirits 2 introduces a new mechanic not found in Sneaky Spirits, that being the music fading out as the ghosts hide behind the wall. Despite this, there is no Practice section for this. There is an unused audio track for it, however.

There are unused patterns for the ghosts leftover from Shiroi Obake 2 in Rhythm Tengoku, as well as a completely new one where the ghost stays fully hidden for the entire pattern.
There are unused patterns for the ghosts' movement behind the wall leftover from Shiroi Obake 2 in Rhythm Tengoku, as well as a completely new one where the ghost stays fully hidden for the entire pattern.

In Barbershop Remix, there is an unused animation, "ghost_step_", which is an early version of the used "ghost_step" (used for the ghosts popping up from behind the fence). The unused animation uses a much shorter, brown haircut. There is a sprite for the freeze-frame used during the Practice section with an arrow pointing to the ghost, which has the final version's haircut applied. There are new unused sprites, including a white square, duplicates of each sprite used when successfully hitting the ghosts (with the ghosts replaced with invisible parts, which no longer exist on the sprite sheet), duplicates of the ghosts making it through to the other side and laughing at the player without the haircut, and a placeholder for the final haircut, with an odd face.
