Gameplay lasts much longer and is more fast paced than before. The camera is not always facing the opponent; it moves constantly around, to force the player to rely more on the rhythm of the ball's bounces. There is also a new move called the high-speed rally, which is cued by eight cowbell sounds, each of them half a beat apart. It is a faster variant of the regular rally and lasts for two measures. There is also a planet that sometimes blocks the view. In ''[[Rhythm Heaven Megamix]]'', the [[Paddler]]s are redesigned to resemble the [[Cosmo Dancers]].
