Urakata Aki to Ki (裏方 赤と黄[1]?, Behind Red and Yellow) are two little dudes with bouncy sticks that help the Spheroids (丸い玉?, Murai Tama) (the balls bouncing on the road) not to fall down in Bouncy Road in Rhythm Tengoku and Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
Story
These two support the Bouncy Road from behind the scenes. With a great sense of balance, they wait for the balls without trembling. As the balls draw near, they make a "tonk-tonk-tonk" in rhythm. They love to gossip but are seemingly indifferent to the balls and their work[1].
A building set resembling the Bouncy Road is a popular "first rhythm plaything" gift for kids[2], and even more popular with adults, who build huge structures and hold tournaments[3].
The two appear in Rhythm Tengoku The Best Plus Comic 26たまには出たい… (Sometimes I want to show up...), where the red one talks about wanting to appear on screen, possibly by replacing the ball. The yellow one panics at this idea, until the red one says he's kidding.

Trivia
- In their one appearance in Remix 5, the Spheroids take on different colors, with one white and the other black. Coupled with the backgrounds that tell the story of a man leaving a woman, the black Spheroid overtaking the white one is likely meant to symbolize the man leaving the woman.
