The Wandering Samurai (虎伝こでん 立國りっこく?, Koden Rikkoku), also known as Samurai Steve in Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise, is a recurring character in the franchise, and appears in all four games in the series, much like Karate Joe, Hairy Vegetables, and the Widgets.

Rhythm Tengoku

The Wandering Samurai first appeared in Rhythm Tengoku in the rhythm game Iai Giri. Here, he is tasked with slicing monsters who are terrorizing a village.

Rhythm Heaven

In Rhythm Heaven, our slicing samurai returned, but he only appeared in the endless game Samurai Slice. In this one, he must slice watermelons, fish and demons to feed the children in the village.

In Rhythm Heaven Fever, the samurai returns in Samurai Slice. Here, he wanders through a village, and stumbles upon a couple of kids, whose pinwheel was stolen by demons. In the name of justice, the samurai follows the demons to a cliff, where he proceeds to slice them all until getting the pinwheel back.
