The gameplay is similar to the prequel, but the tempo is much faster. Every time Forthington hits the shuttlecock, the player (still Baxter) must press A on the following beat to hit it back. When Forthington says “Ba-bum bum bum!”, before hitting a shuttlecock, the player must hit it back two beats later.
The game revolves around Baxter & Forthington having a game of badminton while flying in their planes. Every time Forthington hits the birdie, the player, who controls Baxter, must hit it back on the following beat. Forthington sometimes says "Ba-bum bum bum!" before hitting a birdie, indicating the player must wait two beats before hitting it back.

In addition to the increased tempo and altered aesthetics, the game will attempt to visually mislead the player by having the two planes distance from each other. The beat remains the same, however, at any distance. The lighting will also change overtime, making the characters appear silhouetted.
The game tries to visually mislead the player by having the two planes distance from each other. The beat remains the same, however, at any distance. In the middle of the game, the sun sets, leaving the two players in silhouette. At night time, the clouds start to obscure the player's vision as well.

Trivia
Trivia
*At the start of the game, a flock of geese can be seen flying by. Sometimes, this flock is replaced by Captain Blue Bird and five members of The Blue Birds. One member is also seen in the Superb epilogue.
*Sometimes the Blue Birds and their captain from Rhythm Heaven fly through the sky in the background, replacing the normal birds. A Blue Bird can also be seen in the Superb epilogue screen.
*An unused sprite of a Threefish can be found in this game.
*At the end of the game, Forthington says “Good job!” (“You deserve a treat!” in Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise). If you miss the last shot of the game, Forthington instead says, "Come on! You can't miss the last shot! How lame is that? Anyway, good game!"
*Presumably due to hardware limitations, the amount of clouds was reduced in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, reducing their effectiveness as a visual distraction.
*There is no practice for this game in Megamix, despite the presence of a new feature: Forthington moving further away from Baxter. This is one of a few times that a new feature wasn’t given or mentioned in a practice; the others being Night Walk 2, Bon Dance, Karate Man 2 (GBA), Marcher 2, Sneaky Spirits 2, the GBA sequel, Karate Man 2 (Wii), The Dazzles 2, & Glee Club 2 (DS).
*While Rhythm World Wii otherwise uses the English dub for this game, the "2", "3" and "4" voice clips have their volume altered, creating a fade in with every count. The "1" voice clip was not changed however, making the first count in the game sound rather awkward. The modified Englih dub in Rhythm Heaven Megamix is used with no further changes in Rhythm World: The Best+, effectively reversing this change.
*This is one of the few games in the franchise to require player input after the music finishes. Other games like this are Remix 4 (GBA), Remix 5 (GBA), Air Batter 2, Lockstep, Fan Club 2, Lockstep 2, and Flock Step.
*Some of the voice clips for this game in Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+ are mistakenly changed from the original, and two English voice clips are also mistakenly used. All of these mistakes are fixed when playing with Japanese voices in all other versions of Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
*The second "Ba-bum bum bum!" was changed in Megamix.
**The English voice clip for "Ba-bum bum bum!" while Forthington is at the second closest position was completely redone for Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
*A Threefish from Catch of the Day appears in the sprite sheet for this game, but it went completely unused.
*The amount of clouds in the game was reduced in Megamix.
