There are three different fish that will appear: the [[Quicknibble]], the [[Pausegill]], and the [[Threefish]]. They will make a signal when taking the bait before grabbing it.

The Quicknibble, which are small and orange, will nip the bait twice with the beat, and bite on the third beat. The player must set the hook on the third bite.

The Pausegill, which are yellow with bigger lips, will nip the bait three times in swift succession, after which it will pause then bite on the next beat.

The Threefish, the biggest one, will quickly taste the bait with its tongue, after which it waits three beats and a half-beat before biting. The player must set the hook on the half-beat.
