In this game, the player portrays a student under the teaching of DJ Yellow, a jolly fellow with the signature phrase "Scratch-o, hey!". To play, after DJ Yellow says "Break, come on! Ooh!" or "And stop! Ooh!", the player must tap and hold on the "Ooh!". Then, when DJ Yellow says "Scratch-o, hey!", the player must flick on the "hey!".
This game is about the titular DJ School, where [[DJ Yellow and Student|DJ Yellow]] teaches his [[DJ Yellow and Student|Student]] (controlled by the player) how to look like a DJ. DJ Yellow gives cues like "Break, come on! Ooh!", "And stop! Ooh!", and "Scratch-o, hey!". When he says "Ooh", the player needs to tap and hold to stop the record, and when he says "Hey", the player needs to flick to get it moving again.

*'''Perfect!/Ace!''': The DJ routine will continue normally, and DJ Yellow will give the Student an ecstatic look. The background will flash white.
{{Timing|Ace!=When breaking, the student breaks correctly with a flash in the background. When flicking, he scratches the record correctly, DJ Yellow looks delighted, and the audience cheers.|Early!/Late!=The student breaks or scratches the record off the beat, with DJ Yellow giving a worried look.|Miss...=The student breaks or scratches the record completely off the beat (or not at all), with DJ Yellow having Xs in his eyes. The audience boos.}}
*'''Early!/Late!''': The background won't flash, DJ Yellow won't smile at the player, and the crowd won't cheer. A disappointed squeak sound is heard when tapping and a distorted chirp sound is heard when flicking.
*'''Miss...''': DJ Yellow will cast a worried look at the Student with an X replacing each of his eyes, and his tone will be less energetic. The crowd will boo the DJs.

*DJ Yellow has two unused sprites; one where he is seen giving a thumbs up (meant for gameplay), and another looking cross (meant for the epilogues).
*DJ Yellow has two unused sprites; one where he is seen giving a thumbs up, and another looking cross; the thumbs up sprite was probably used when getting a perfect hit in-game, and the cross sprite might have been meant to be used in an epilogue.
