This game's setting is a baseball field, and you are playing as a [[slugger]] who must hit the baseball "thrown" by a [[pitcher]] to the beat.

On the other side of the field, Pitcher, a young girl wearing pink, will throw a baseball at the batter. The baseball will be thrown behind a curtain and will fly out after four beats. The player needs to swing on the fifth beat to hit the ball out of the park.

The entire game revolves around trying to mislead the player. The player merely needs to swing on the fifth beat; however, the game will try to use visuals and sound to make the player swing at the wrong time. This includes making the screen visibly beating in an unhelpful pattern, zooming in, cutting off music, and at one point zooming all the way out of the park. To do good on the game, the player needs to keep rhythm without the game's help.

In the end, its revealed that the curtain in the middle was hiding a monkey. It turns out that it was catching the ball from the pitcher and throwing them at the batter after five beats, causing the delay

When the camera zooms way out to show the audience press A at the right moment to collect the star.

*The VS screen featuring Pitcher and Slugger in Megamix version has been redrawn a little to introduce them as they are ready to begin the match, but in ''Fever'', the VS screen features their appearances in a close up.
