  • Young Cricket (ヤングクリケット?, Yangu Kuriketto) and Master Mantis (マスターマンティス?, Masutā Mantisu) are two characters from the WarioWare Series. They are martial artists and WarioWare, Inc. employees who like meat dumplings. Master Mantis is an elderly teacher of martial arts, while Young Cricket is his devoted student. When they are first introduced, they appear to be rather serious characters, shown training in difficult conditions, but it is later shown that they 'fit in' with the rest of Wario's friends.

    In Rhythm Heaven

Young Cricket's first appearance in the Rhythm Heaven Series is in Kung Fu Ball in Rhythm Heaven Fever as one of the kappa's students. In the game, he must kick and punch a ball back to the other student without dropping it. Notably, his hair is more of a gray color rather than black with white streaks in this appearance. His Character Trailer for WarioWare Gold[3] features Young Cricket training alongside the female student under Master Mantis, with the kappa and ball from Kung Fu Ball making an appearance. This trailer confirms the character in Rhythm Heaven Fever is indeed Young Cricket himself.

Young Cricket and Master Mantis appear in Rhythm Heaven Megamix in the Challenge Train course Wario...Where?, with their designs from the WarioWare Series. Master Mantis is featured (initially without his mustache) as the playable character in Munchy Monk, replacing the titular character, where he eats dumplings to grow his mustache. Young Cricket can be seen in the background riding on a cloud, similar to the monkey from Animal Acrobat in Final Remix.

    In Super Smash Bros.

Young Cricket appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a sticker. It raises any character's Arm and Leg attack power by 3. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Young Cricket can be seen on the sketchpad in one of the randomly generated layouts for the Gamer stage. He also appears as a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

His spirit battle takes place on the Suzaku Castle stage playing the Chun Li-Stage Type A track, where he is represented by a navy blue Lucario. Pork Buns frequently appear as items. The battle has the following conditions:

    • The enemy's dash attacks have increased power
    • Certain items will appear in large numbers after a little while
