The Ninja (忍者?, Ninja) guards the Lord from other ninjas shooting arrows at him in Ninja Bodyguard in Rhythm Tengoku and Rhythm Heaven Megamix.

The Ninjas wear entirely black and white traditional ninja outfits, with the black ninja also having some white stars on his chest and a long scarf. Their entire bodies are covered except for thier hands and faces. Their eyes are always closed. The white ninjas also seem to have red face paint in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.

Story

The black ninja is devoted to protecting his lord at all costs, even if the lord goes out of his way to walk outside, putting himself in danger[1]. A secondary black ninja shoots arrows at him to practice with, where the playable ninja is guarding a wooden dummy repressenting the lord. The ninja is Tanaka's great great great great grandfather. The night after protecting his lord from the enemy ninjas, he has a premonition of Tanaka, who also protects a woman in the same way, who is said to be the descendant of the Lord. He uses ninjutsu to ensure Tanaka finds a scroll, urging him to continue protecting her[2]. His final appearence is as a ghost, watching over Tanaka.

The ninjas also make an appearence in Freeze Frame, where they can sometimes be seen in the photos. Unused sprites of the ninjas can also be found in Samurai Slice in Rhythm Heaven.

Trivia

  • In Rhythm Sesang: The Best+, the ninjas' outfits are slightly different, in that they wear bandanas and face masks, and the black Ninja lacks the scarf and stars, now resembling traditional Korean ninja outfits. Their ears are also visible. Interestingly, this redesign is not present in their cameo in Freeze Frame in either game.
  • The ninjas share similar concepts to the Skeletons and Wither Skeletons from Minecraft. Both being white and wielding a bow and being black and wielding a sword.
