Backstory
The Munchy Monk is first seen training deep in the mountains, which involves eating dumplings all day, as well as caring for a baby in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
At one point, the monk was spotted by a Bear (クマさん?, Kuma-san), who was ready to eat him for dinner, but left him alone after witnessing the monk eat a dozen dumplings at once, which disgusted the bear. He was hired as a clown by Carny Barker (園長さん?, Enchō-san), but was ironically fired for eating on the job.
He was later spotted in the mountains by the Circus Ringmaster (園長さん?, Danchō-san), who was so impressed by the monk's eating abilities, that he hired him at once. Life on the glittering stage held no appeal for the monk and he vanished soon after. His incredible eating abilities earned him the title of "Dumpling Man", as well as news coverage of any sightings of him.
After mastering eating, he aims to perfect the art of feeding someone else (in this case, a Chorus Kid) on a moving train.[2]

Trivia
- In Rhythm Heaven, the Munchy Monk has no sleeves in the game, but is depicted in the prologue artwork with sleeves. In later games, he always has sleeves.
- In Rhythm Heaven Fever and Rhythm Heaven Megamix, his design was changed to resemble Employee 333-4-591032.
- The Munchy Monk appears as a defense-type spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. His spirit battle takes place on the Spirit Train stage (a reference to the Endless Game). He is represented by a blue Ken who is distracted by items but has a powered-up Shoryuken, and he is backed up by three white Kirbys (representing the dumplings).
