The Paddlers, also known as the Space Dancers (スペースダンサーズ?, Supēsu Dansāzu) are blue, box-headed humanoid figures first appearing in Rhythm Tengoku's Space Dance. They later return in Rhythm Heaven's Rhythm Rally and Rhythm Rally 2, while making cameo appearances in a variety of other Rhythm Games. Their leader is Space Gramps.

Physical Appearance

The Paddlers are light blue, humanoid figures with box-shaped heads and white hands and faces, circular eyes, and a mouth which is depicted as being angular in some instances, and rounded in others. In the Rhythm Rally games, they are seen wearing yellow shorts with a red trim, and white socks.

Backstory

Their dance is considered brutal because those who mistime their moves will end up getting hit the person next to them.[1]

The Paddlers appear frequently in weekly magazines and are considered the rivals of the Cosmo Dancers. Experts say the Paddlers can't compare to the Cosmo Dancers and their sharp moves.[2]

The Paddlers are led by Space Gramps, who provides them instructions in Space Dance and is revealed to be the chairman of the Rhythm League in the Rally Certificate

According to Character Profiles 1, they sustain themselves on a diet of table tennis, and grow weak and sickly if they stop playing the game. Some Paddlers, however, are able to substitute this for paddle ball, instead. An official comic further backs this up, where the Paddlers are shown giving a poor performance during the Space Dance, but after playing a game of table tennis, are re-energized.

The Paddlers appear to be racing fans, as they form a crowd in Freeze Frame. In Rhythm Heaven Megamix, many quartets of variously colored Paddlers also appear.
