The player controls a giant hand writing calligraphy with a surprising amount of strength. The giant hand writes automatically, while the player presses Ⓐ or taps to finish the characters with a powerful stroke when the hand reaches enough power. There are six different symbols to write (("Re" Katakana), (a Japanese comma), ("chikara", power), ("onore", oneself), ("sun", a Japanese kind of measurement), ("kokoro", heart), and the characters つるニハ○○ムし (tsurunihamarumushi) (or つ3ニハ○○ムし in the Korean version) arranged to form a face). Near the end, the game goes faster and [[Mini Chounin|people]] come out dancing.

This game also appears in the 2P mode of ''[[Rhythm Tengoku (Arcade)]]'' where it is referred to as {{Nihongo|'''Rhythm o Shuji 2P'''|リズムお習字 2P|Rhythm O Shuji 2P}}. It plays the same as the 1P version, except it has a split screen display to accommodate the second player. As a consequence of this design, there is only one column of dancers per screen, and they walk over the paper.
