Rhythm Heaven (series)

The Rhythm Heaven (リズム天てん国ごく^?, Rhythm Tengoku) series holds all of the Rhythm Heaven games. There are currently a total of four released games, with one port.

Rhythm Tengoku

Rhythm Tengoku (リズム天てん国ごく^?, Rhythm Tengoku) is the first game in the series released for the Game Boy Advance on August 3, 2006 in Japan, and also the last game Nintendo had developed for the Game Boy Advance. This is the first installment of the series.

An arcade version was co-developed with SEGA and released in September 20, 2007 in Japan.

The player uses Ⓐ, Ⓑ and sometimes ✚ to control various characters, from a clapping trio to a space batter.

Rhythm Heaven

Rhythm Heaven (リズム天てん国ごくゴールド^?, Rhythm Tengoku Gold), known as Rhythm Paradise in Europe and Rhythm World (리듬 세상^?, Lideum Sesang) in Korea, is the second game in the series, released for the Nintendo DS on July 31, 2008 in Japan, April 5, 2009 in North America, May 1, 2009 in Europe and September 24, 2009 in South Korea.

This game is entirely controlled to the side of the Nintendo DS using the Touch Screen where the player can simply Tap, Flick or Slide to the beat with various Rhythm Games.

Rhythm Heaven Fever

Rhythm Heaven Fever (みんなのリズム天てん国ごく^?, Minna no Rhythm Tengoku), known as Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise in Europe, and Rhythm World Wii (리듬 세상 Wii^?, Lideum Sesang Wii) in Korea, is the third game in the series, released for the Wii on July 21, 2011 in Japan, February 13, 2012 in North America, July 6, 2012 in Europe, September 13, 2012 in Australia and September 12, 2013 in South Korea.

The game was digitally rereleased on the Wii U Nintendo eShop on July 27, 2016 in Japan, November 10, 2016 in North America, and November 24 in Europe.

This game returns to the traditional button controls, being controlled with the Wii Remote using Ⓐ and Ⓐ+Ⓑ.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix

Rhythm Heaven Megamix (リズム天てん国ごくザ・ベスト＋プラス^?, Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+), also known as Rhythm Paradise Megamix in Europe, and Rhythm Sesang: The Best+ (리듬 세상 더 베스트＋플러스^?, Rhythm World: The Best+) in Korea, is the fourth game in the series, released for the Nintendo 3DS on June 11, 2015 in Japan, June 16, 2016 in North America, October 21, 2016 in Europe, October 22, 2016 in Australia, and December 1, 2016 in South Korea.

This game includes 63 Rhythm Games from the previous three games, 19 new and 12 new versions of previous games. Games are again controlled using Ⓐ, Ⓑ and sometimes ✚ in Buttons mode, or with a Tap in the Simple Tap mode.

Future of the series

On August 17, 2017, a rumor started that the series no longer has a future^[1]. In an interview with Eurogamer on August 24, 2017, series co-producer Yoshio Sakamoto confirmed that the series is not over, and the possibility for a new entry is always open^[2]. In the following years, series producer Tsunku♂ has also expressed interest in developing a new game. On May 8, 2019, he retweeted an article about the game, asking fans what they think is revolutionary about the series. Later on April 9, 2020, he replied to a post regarding his interest in continuing the series, expressing ideas for what features a title on Nintendo Switch could have^[3]. On July 31, 2020, he tweeted in celebration of the fifth anniversary of Rhythm Heaven Megamix, reaffirming a desire for a Switch title^[4], and on August 3, 2021, he posted about the 15th anniversary of the series, expressing his desire to make a new game^[5]. On June 16, 2022, he retweeted a fan request for a new title on Switch^[6]. Despite all these affirmations, there is no information regarding a new title in the series being developed^[7].
