History

According to an Iwata Asks interview apparently SEGA approached them with an offer for an arcade version as the game was popular with SEGA staff. Osawa and Ko Takeuchi was impressed because he never thought Rhythm Tengoku was able to gain a following.

Differences

  • There is an Extra stage in the game, which reuses the games from Stage 1 with a sped up tempo and different graphics, which was not in the GBA version.
  • This is the first game in the series to have better sound quality. The second would be Rhythm Heaven Fever and so on.
  • You could only play a certain amount of games before you would need to insert more money.
  • Ninja Bodyguard uses Left and Right on the D-pad, instead of D-pad and A.
  • Perfects can happen in the middle of the game, but only occur if the player has played perfectly up to a certain point.
  • Getting a perfect gives you a extra life.
  • Most of the games like Spaceball have their own tutorials added in which didn't have it in the original.

Trivia

  • This is one of the very few games developed by Nintendo and SEGA, respectively.
  • This was playable in Hyper Japan 2016 in London.
  • This is the first game in the series to have a multiplayer mode.
