RH Wiki:Screenshot Guidelines
Game Boy Advance
Game Boy Advance screenshots are taken at 240x160 pixels.
It is recommended to use the latest version of mGBA. The default settings should be OK, but make sure that the renderer is set to Software (this can be found in the enhancements tab).
Press F12 to save a screenshot in the same folder as the ROM. It will be named after the ROM file with a number appended based on how many screenshots have been taken. A screenshot for Rhythm Tengoku may be named Rhythm Tengoku-1.png.
Nintendo DS
Nintendo DS screenshots are taken at 192x256 pixels for the individual screens, or 384x256 pixels for both screens. For Rhythm Heaven, only the "top" screen is needed for rhythm games. Menus and other scenes which utilize both screens (not as simply an input for rhythm games) should include both. Also ensure that the game is set to Righty mode, unless specifically showcasing differences found in Lefty mode.
Hardware
If a modified Nintendo DS or 3DS system with a capture card installed is available, that is the preferred way to take screenshots. If that is not available, using custom firmware or emulation is OK.
A modded Nintendo DSi or 3DS system is required to take screenshots. It is possible to do this using nds-bootstrap, but it is reportedly unreliable and prone to crashes.
While in a game, press + + SELECT, then select Screenshot…. Screenshots will be saved to SD:/_nds/nds-bootstrap/screenshots.tar and are saved as BMPs inside of the screenshots.tar file. Linux and MacOS systems can open TAR files natively, but Windows users will to either use the Command Prompt or a program like 7-Zip or WinRar. After extraction, the screenshots will need to be cropped and converted to PNGs before upload.
Emulation
It is recommended to use the latest version of melonDS. The only settings that need to checked are in Config > Video Settings.
- 3D Renderer > set to Software (this is important or the game sprites won't render properly)
The latest version of melonDS does not have a dedicated screenshot button or hotkey, so a screenshot will have to be taken and trimmed.
Wii
Wii screenshots are taken at 834x456 pixels (829x456 for european games). It is recommended to use the latest version of Dolphin Emulator. Some settings will need to be changed.
- Graphics
- General
- Aspect Ratio: Auto
- Enhancements
- Internal Resolution: Native (640x528)
- Anti-Aliasing: None
- Texture Filtering: Default
- Force 24-Bit Color: Unchecked
- Advanced > Frame Dumping
- Resolution Type: Aspect Ratio Corrected Internal Resolution
- General
- Config
- Enable Dual Core (speedhack): Unchecked
- Wii
- Use PAL60 Mode (EuRGB60): Unchecked (To ensure european screenshots are taken at the right aspect ratio)
Press F9 or click the Screenshot button to save a screenshot in Dolphin's user directory. It will be named with the Game ID with a timestamp appended. A screenshot for Rhythm Heaven Fever may be named SOME01_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS.png.
Nintendo 3DS
Nintendo 3DS screenshots are taken at 400×240 pixels for the top screen in 2D mode (800×240 in 3D mode) and 320x240 pixels for the bottom screen.
For Rhythm Heaven Megamix, only the top screen is needed for rhythm games. Menus and other scenes which utilize both screens (not simply showing the timing in rhythm games) should include both, with empty space in the bottom screen being taken up by transparency.
Hardware
If a modified Nintendo 3DS system with a capture card installed is available, that is the preferred way to take screenshots. If that is not available, using custom firmware or emulation is OK.
A modded Nintendo 3DS system is required to take screenshots. It is recommended to use Luma3DS as your custom firmware. If not being played on a Nintendo 2DS or New 2DS XL system, the 3D slider must be set to off.
While in a game, press + + SELECT (or the custom key combination if changed) to open the Rosalina menu, then select Take screenshot. Screenshots will be saved to SD:/luma/screenshots and are saved as BMPs. They will need to be cropped and converted to PNGs before upload.
Emulation
It is recommended to use the latest version of Azahar Emulator, though archive versions of Citra work as well if they are already downloaded. Some settings will need to be changed under Emulation.
- Renderer
- Internal Resolution: Native (400x240)
- Enable Linear Filtering: Checked
- Post-Processing Shader: none (builtin)
- Texture Filter: None
- Stereoscopy
- Stereoscopic 3D Mode: Off
- Depth: 0%
- Eye to Render in Monoscopic Mode: Left Eye (Default)
Press Ctrl + P or click the Take Screenshot button under Tools to save a screenshot in Azahar's (or Citra's) user directory. It will be saved with the game name with a timestamp appended. A screenshot for Rhythm Heaven Megamix may be named Rhythm Heaven Megamix_DD.MM.YY_HH.MM.SS.MSS.png.

Emulation
There are two well-known and trusted emulators for the Nintendo Switch: Yuzu and Ryujinx. They have both been shut down by Nintendo, so no links will be provided. However, they are the best source for high-quality screenshots, so images from either of these two, without graphical errors, will be preferred to a native JPG capture on a Nintendo Switch.
- Yuzu:
- Select the tools tab and click on "Capture Screenshot" and save it as a PNG.
- Ryujinx:
- Go to Options > Settings > Graphics and set the resolution scale to Native (720p/1080p).
- Press F8 or click the Take Screenshot button under Actions to save a screenshot. It will be saved as a PNG and be found in the Ryujinx folder in the Pictures folder on Windows.
