Karate Man Combos! |
Karate training at its most intense! Punch the flying objects, and go crazy when a mess of them come at you! |
Rhythm Heaven Megamix |
Karate Man Combos! (カラテ家コンボ?, Karateka Konbo), known in Rhythm Heaven Fever as Karate Man (カラテ家?, Karateka), is the 4th Rhythm Game of Stage 7 (34th overall) in Rhythm Heaven Fever and the 3rd of Shop No. 6 (108th and final overall), costing 15 Flow Balls, in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
The arrange version, Karate Man 2, appears in Stage 10 in Rhythm Heaven Fever.
Gameplay
As with previous Karate Man games, the player controls Karate Joe, punching any object that flies by. Upon hearing "Hit 3!", the player must hit two consecutive pots followed by a rock. Sometimes, a "!!" mark appears, signaling an object on the offbeat. The main feature is the "Combo!", preceded by a Light Bulb. It consists of several pots and then a barrel, which the player has to hit with a flurry of punches and kicks, ending in an uppercut. The following objects appear and needed to be punched off-screen:
- Pot
- Rock
- Soccer Ball
- Light Bulb, followed by a Combo
In Rhythm Heaven Fever, the Light Bulbs do not glow, and the game is colored blue with snow falling, much like the Karate Man in Rhythm Heaven. In Rhythm Heaven Megamix, the Light Bulbs now glow blue (taken from the gameplay in Karate Man Senior), and the game is colored reddish-orange like Karate Man 2 with rising particles, to contrast Karate Man Kicks! having the blue coloration with snow and yellow Light Bulbs.
Controls
Rhythm Heaven Fever
- Ⓐ: Punch
- Ⓐ+Ⓑ (Hold): Start combo (punching flurry)
- Ⓐ+Ⓑ (Release): End combo (uppercut)
Rhythm Heaven Megamix
- Ⓐ/Tap: Punch
- Ⓑ (Hold)/Tap (Hold): Start combo (punching flurry)
- Ⓑ (Release)/Tap (Release): End combo (uppercut)
Timing Display
- Perfect!/Ace!?: Karate Joe punches the object off-screen. During a combo, he successfully punches away the pots and uppercuts the barrel, breaking it apart. He reacts with a blush.
- Early!/Late!?: Karate Joe mistimes the punch (causing him to wince in Rhythm Heaven Megamix) as the object lands on the ground just in front of him. Mistiming the first pot or the barrel in a combo has the same effect, and he reacts with a sad face.
- Miss...?: Karate Joe gasps as the object flies past him. During a combo, if he misses the pot, he looks sad. If he misses the barrel by not uppercutting, he stands up, looking sad. If the player lets go of the button(s) too soon or tries to do a combo at the wrong time, he spins out after doing the low kick.

Karate Man (カラテ家?, Karateka) is the 8th and last Rhythm Game in the Two-Player Menu in Rhythm Heaven Fever. It is unlocked after completing the One Player version.
The game has two Karate Joes, standing back-to-back against a red background. P1 controls the blue-skinned Joe on the left in a white robe, and P2 controls the purple-skinned Joe on the right with a purple robe, being the only Two Player game to not use the cyan/orange color scheme. Both players must hit the various objects as they fly out. At a few points, one player goes to the front and is the only one to hit objects. Unlike the regular game, no particles are shown flying on screen.
