Story
About halfway into the game Blue Birds, you can see various flashbacks above the birds' heads. These include the three of them lifting weights with their mouths, the three of them pulling a tank with Captain Blue Bird on top of it, the three of them flying an airplane, them falling with parachutes on, them climbing up rocks, and them staring at the sunset.
The three birds for the Blue Bird Brigade, and take orders from Captain Blue Bird. These orders involve pecking their beaks, stretching out their necks, and many other activities.

Upon perfecting this game, you get some backstory on these flashbacks. The first page of Blue Bird Diary asks that you may please read it in order to make sense of the flashbacks in the game.
The playable bird keeps a Diary.

The second page describes the events of April 17th of an unknown year. The player Blue Bird's dreams have come true, as he has finally joined the Blue Bird Brigade. On the first day, the Blue Bird does some basic training.
On April 16, the playable bird joins the Blue Bird Brigade, and their first order is basic training. The birds are shown working out to get in shape.

On April 20th of the same year, the Blue Bird says that, although it's called basic training, that it's not basic training at all! They're forced to tug a tank with their captain inside of it. The captain was yelling at the blue birds the whole time they pulled the heavy tank.
On April 20, the birds have to tug a heavy tank while the captain rides on it, yelling at them along the way. The playable bird complains about this training being anything but basic.

On May 2nd, the Blue Birds have to drive pedal powered planes. The blue bird points out that it's ironic they can't just fly with their own wings.
On May 2, "basic training" continues with the birds flying in pedal-powered airplanes. The playable bird complains that they are forced to do this instead of using their wings.

On May 10th, the bird does parachute training. The bird once again points out that it's ironic they can't use their own wings.
On May 10, the birds have parachute training. The playable bird further complains about not being alowed to use their wings.

On May 14th, the crew of blue birds falls off of a cliff while wandering around. They had all forgotten they had their own wings, and climbed up the cliff instead of flying up. Although it was hard, the sunset made it worth it.
On May 14, the birds get tired and wander around. They accidentally fall off a cliff, and climb back up, having forgotten they have wings. They find the sunset to be worthwhile.

In the last entry on May 24th, talks about how the commander will assign the birds to a location the following day. The birds don't know where they'll be posted, but the captain keeps insisting it's somewhere fun.
The Rhythm Game Blue Birds takes place here, where the birds are shown pecking their beaks and stretching out their necks. All of the previous events are shown as flashbacks during the game.

More flashbacks can be seen in Blue Birds 2., although there is no follow-up on the specifics of what's going on. The birds can be seen sledding down a hill, encountering Karate Joe, fishing with a net, sleeping with sleeping bags, pecking their beaks into ice and causing a giant eruption of ice cold water, and sitting in a hot spring. Stomp Farmer can be seen in one flashback.
On May 24, the birds are informed they will learn on the next day where they will be assigned to, with their captain saying it's "somewhere fun".

<span style="font-size:18px;">Appearances</span>
In Blue Birds 2, the birds are stationed in a snowy mountainous region. There are more scenes shown as flashbacks, depicting the events up until the game. The birds are shown sledding down a hill, spying on Karate Joe during his training, fishing with a net, having a rest in sleeping bags, pecking their beaks into ice and causing a giant eruption of ice cold water, and relaxing with their captain in a hot spring. The eruption scene also shows Stomp Farmer being able to see them in the distance, implying this location may be close by to the Stomp and Chomp Agriculture Co.
