DJ Yellow (DJイエロー DJ Ierō) and his Student (Japanese: 生徒 Seito) are the members of the DJ School who make their first appearance in the titular game.
Physical Appearance
The DJs are tall, bald humanoids with big eyebrows and red headphones.
DJ Yellow has pink cheeks, black eyes, angular eyebrows, and yellow skin. He wears his antenna-like headphones where his ears would be.
Student has blue skin, white lips, straight eyebrows, and shocked-looking eyes. He wears his more normal-looking headphones on his neck.
Backstory
A series of three official Rhythm Heaven comics tell the story of how DJ Yellow and his student first met. According to these comics, Student was in Tokyo when he learned about the Battle of the Bands taking place that night. He met DJ Yellow at the event, where he was amazed by his music skills. After the event, Student told DJ Yellow how amazing he was, and they went out for warm drinks together.
DJ School Flier, the letter you get upon perfecting DJ School, gives a bit of information on the story behind DJ School. Essentially, the DJ School is looking for people who would like to be real DJs. The friendly and courteous DJ Yellow will happily teach anybody how to look like a DJ, although the letter emphasizes that there are no actual lessons on becoming a DJ, just looking like one.
Student appears to be working part-time at a fish market, according to Catch of the Day's Try Again epilogue.
Personalities
DJ Yellow is highly energetic and talkative, and was also described as "friendly and courteous".
Before the events of DJ School, the student was nervous and easily flustered, as seen in the official comics. In the actual game, he appears to have gained more confidence. While he never speaks in-game, he is shown to be a skilled DJ (or at least skilled at looking like one). He seems to hold his teacher in high esteem, as seen at the end of DJ School and Remix 4 (DS), where DJ Yellow raises his hands in the air as his student looks at him in awe. The comics reinforce this, as he is shocked by DJ Yellow’s skill upon first hearing him perform.
