Heaven Studio is an open-source fangame based on Rhythm Heaven series. Heaven Studio features a lot of features for making Rhythm Heaven remixes, such as VFX. It also features custom minigames, most notably Meat Grinder, Rhythm Sōmen and Trick on the Class.

Development

Heaven Studio was created and maintained by community volunteers under the RHeavenStudio name, forked from another project, called Rhythm Heaven Mania. Starpelly began the project as a personal Unity project in 2021. Over time a team of contributors used to manage it: Starpelly eventually left the development team and leadership was given to Minenice among a group of volunteer developers. Downloads were hosted on github, with "stable" and "nightly" builds. The first stable build released in January 15, 2024, titled as the "Lush Release", V1.0.0 and got a patch 7 days later, V1.0.1. In June 2024, Nintendo has taken down the project with a DMCA Notice. In response, the Heaven Studio team reassured that the project would continue in a new direction: shifting from "recreating Rhythm Heaven" towards providing general tools for making rhythm games.

Trivia

  • All of Heaven Studio's fangames originate from other sources. All of them have been redone.
    • Meat Grinder was originally a mod for Rhythm Heaven Megamix, made by Seanski2.[1]
    • Rhythm Sōmen was an old Japanese flash game, made by Forte1st.[2]
    • Trick on the Class was a minigame from a Rhythm Heaven mobile rip-off called "Rhythm Heaven-Fever".
