Challenge Land (チャレンジランド?, Charenji Rando) is a special land in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, which opens after clearing The First Gate and can be accessed by pressing the Challenges (チャレンジ?, Charenji) button on the touch screen while on any land. Unlike other lands, Challenge Land isn't part of the game's story.
Description
At Challenge Land, the player can board the Challenge Train (チャレンジトレイン?, Charenji Torein) either solo (where they must pay the Challenge Charge (チャレンジ料金?, Charenji Ryōkin) of 5 coins) or with up to three friends (for free), where they ride through courses on the way to the goal, playing Rhythm Games with altered rules. The player is unable to play solo until after clearing Lush Tower[1]. The player can play with friends via Download Play as well, but they can only receive rewards by playing the full version[2].
When the player successfully completes a course for the first time, they receive Flow Balls as a reward[3], which can be used to purchase Rhythm Games at the Shop. Every subsequent completion of a course has the player choose from three treasure chests, which randomly contain a First-Class, Second-Class or Third Class reward, each giving a number of coins and turnips that can be used in the Stable.
Additionally, Challenge Land also contains the Perfect Campaign Headquarters[4] (パーフェクトキャンペーンコーナー?, Perfect Campaign Corner), where the player can attempt any ongoing Perfect Campaigns, as opposed to navigating to the location where the game normally is like previous games.
Rules
Each Rhythm Game in a given Course has one of three goals added:
★ Score Goal ★
Reach the target score or higher! When playing with friends, all scores will be added together. |
★ Life Goal ★
If you lose all hearts, you are out. When playing with friends, at least one player must survive! |
★ Monster Goal ★
Keep hitting Aces to run away from the monster! Don't get eaten! |
Additionally, games may have their , sometimes the player has a choice between two games, and "Game Gamble" Courses choose randomly from a pool of Rhythm Games. Courses require the course before it to be cleared to unlock.
Demo
Challenge Land is also available with three exclusive courses in the Rhythm Heaven Megamix Demo, however it is only playable in Multiplayer.

Trivia
- Saltwater World and Paprika World contain optional games from the Shop, which can be played through the Challenge Train even without having been purchased beforehand.
- "Lockstep Lockdown" is the only course where the same game is played multiple times in the same course.
- "Getting Vocal 2" is the only course changed for different regions. This is due to Lush Remix and Machine Remix having lyrics in the Japanese version, which were replaced with instrumental tracks in other regions.
- "Wario...Where?" requires the player to clear all normal courses in Paprika World to unlock, while "Wario...Where? 2: The Sequel" requires those as well as "Wario...Where?" itself. The courses themselves also change the appearance of the Rhythm Games, replacing the main characters with those of WarioWare.
- uses a hidden multiplier, which can go up to 255%. A "Tempo Down" is also possible, which can go down to 1%, but it is never used in the game.
- A number of Rhythm Games never appear in any Challenge Train courses, those being Left-Hand Remix, Right-Hand Remix, Final Remix, Night Walk, Quiz Show, Big Rock Finish, Catch of the Day, and Love Rap, as well as the four Endless Games: Coin Toss, Sick Beats, Charging Chicken, and Clap Trap.
- The Perfect Campaign Headquarters has three notes below the game's icon while a campaign is active. These turn off with each failure, and as such represent the three attempts the player gets at a Perfect. This continues having the three attempts shown visually to the player in the Rhythm Heaven Series.
