As the character lands on the path, boxes will be seen below him. This is a visual cue to jump. Successfully doing this will open the boxes and make them blossom into various things such as hearts, lollipops, and umbrellas. The player will fall off before reaching the goal if enough boxes are left unopened before then.

Night Walk is the 2nd Rhythm Game of Stage 4 (20th overall) in Rhythm Tengoku and the 2nd of Shop No. 1 (92nd overall), costing 10 Flow Balls, in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
In addition, a unique "instant-fail" possibility can happen. If the player does not jump from a box on the edge of a platform, the character will fall off the platform. If this happens, the game will immediately end, with the results displaying "You fell down a pit.", and giving you a "Try Again" rating. This can also happen if you don't open enough boxes before the goal, in which the goal will not open, and the character will walk past it to eventually fall off.

:Main Article: Night Walk (Wii)
Night Walk was remade in Rhythm Heaven Fever as a game played during the credits. It was also made available to play after viewing the credits and cast. The character jumping is Marshal, along with Miss Ribbon and Cam as the player progresses farther. Instead of the character jumping to grab a bouquet of balloons at the end, the scenery changes to a daytime stroll and leads the characters to the Cafe.

*Hold A + B = Roll
*Release A + B = Pop Up

Hit or Miss
*Hit: Marshal will jump from the box, making it open and have a large heart fly out of it. For rolling spaces, Marshall will successfully hit both boxes and spring up from the second, as fireworks appear in the background.
*Barely: Marshal will jump from the box, but only a small heart pops out, with the word "MISS" appearing under it.
*Miss: Marshal will walk past the boxes, making them release a small music note. Jumping when there are no boxes results in Marshal only hopping slightly.
In addition to the above, the game has a unique "instant-fail" possibility. If the player fails to jump from on a box at the edge of the platform, Marshal will not jump to the platform, instead falling off the current platform after trying to hang on the edge, with Miss Ribbon and Cam looking down at where you fell. Should this happen, the game will immediately end, cutting to the cast roll. After that, the results screen will simply say "You fell down a pit", and give you a "Try Again" rank.

In this game, the player takes control of Play-Yan who strolls through the path in the night sky while jumping on magical boxes. As he reaches the set of boxes via balloons, he begins walking on them. Passing though them causes the boxes to open, with the dot in the middle turning into various things depending on the player's timing and the boxes themselves. Jumping off the block with the right timing causes an object to sprout, and a star to grow in the sky. If all of the stars are at their max size at the end of the game, the final box releases a small star which Play-Yan grabs on to.

|Tsunku♂: When I first did this, I thought it was such a stupid idea! When you reach the goal at the end, you just fly away. There's no ending, I thought (laughs). Moreover, you simply press the button in time to the rhythm, which, from our point of view, is the most basic of basics, but there were quite a few people who found it difficult... They are misled by the pictures and make mistakes, so you will probably do better if you try it with your eyes closed. This game has changed the conventional wisdom of music games. There are no enemies, and at the end you just fly away (laughs).

|Yone: There was a digital audio player called "Play-Yan" that could be used with the DS and GBA, and I used that character. It was originally an endless game. It seems like it doesn't end until you fail and fall off. But when we decided to include it as a single game, we had to create an ending, so we decided to make it a flying punchline. It's fine if it flies away (laughs).

Trivia
Trivia
*The character's design in this game appears to have influence on later characters. (i.e. Marshal, Miss Ribbon, Cam, Chorus Kids, etc.)
*This is one of the few games that doesn't feature a Practice in Rhythm Tengoku, however it did receive a tutorial in the arcade version, and a practice in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
* The Rhythm Tengoku website calls the night walk character play-yan. play-yan was a game for the gameboy that allowed you to play music.
*The layout of the steps in the middle of the game is randomized.
*The character from the original game appears in The Dazzles from Rhythm Heaven, hanging onto one of the stars that appear after certain correct poses. He also appears in Rhythm Heaven Fever, being in the books on one of the "OK, it's on!" cheers from the Cheer Readers sections of Remix 7.
*The objects that appear out of the boxes act as instruments in the song. The heart flowers add drums, the lollipops being snares, and the umbrellas - cymbal accents.
*This is the first rhythm game in the series to be redone completely with different visuals, music, and controls.
**Interestingly, the final platform which releases a star also plays the cymbal accent in Rhythm Tengoku, but no sound effect is played at all in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
*Both versions of the game stand out as one of the few games in the franchise to have the ability to fail instantly before judging your performance, with Quiz being the only other one.
*In Rhythm Heaven Megamix, if the player jumps from the platform and releases the star, then immediately attempts to input a jump again within a small window, it is possible to cause the star to disappear, resulting in Play-Yan rising up without holding anything.
*In the Rhythm Heaven Fever version of the game, the Huebirds of Happiness from Flock Step fly by in a large group later in the game. The Barista also makes an appearance near the end.
*This game, Quiz Show, Night Walk 2, and Night Walk in Rhythm Heaven Fever, are the only Rhythm Games that can be ended prematurely before the song is finished.
*On the remake, depending on what TV or emulator you have, Cam might be unseeable until the end of the game.
Development History
* Night Walk makes a cameo appearance in the Nintendo 3DS Sound software as a background picture. His climbing speed depends on how the speed of the song is adjusted
