In 2004, [[Tsunku♂]] brought in a proposal and conception for what would eventually become ''[[Rhythm Tengoku]]''. He was influenced by his dissatisfaction with "sound games" which involved pressing buttons at specific times but not actual rhythm. He initially envisioned it as potentially being early childhood software to hone in the rhythmic sense of Japanese people, or rhythm training software for karaoke lovers. The game proved to be very popular in Japan, and the sequel, ''[[Rhythm Heaven]]'', would bring the series internationally.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix (リズム天国てんごく ザ・ベスト＋プラス?, Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+; lit. 'Rhythm Heaven: The Best+'), also known as Rhythm Paradise Megamix in Europe, and Rhythm Sesang: The Best Plus (리듬 세상 더 베스트 플러스?; lit. 'Rhythm World: The Best Plus') in Korea, is the fourth game in the series, released for the Nintendo 3DS on June 11, 2015 in Japan, June 16, 2016 in North America, October 21, 2016 in Europe, October 22, 2016 in Australia, and December 1, 2016 in South Korea. The game was also rereleased under the Nintendo Selects label on November 29, 2018 in South Korea[1].

This game includes 63 Rhythm Games from the previous three games, 19 new and 12 new versions of previous games. Games are again controlled using , and sometimes in Buttons mode, or with a Tap in the Simple Tap mode.

Rhythm Heaven Groove

Rhythm Heaven Groove[2] (リズム天国てんごく ミラクルスターズ?, Rhythm Tengoku: Miracle Stars; lit. 'Rhythm Heaven: Miracle Stars')[3], also known as Rhythm Paradise Groove[4] in Europe, Rhythm Cheonguk: Miracle Stars (리듬 천국 미라클 스타즈?; lit. 'Rhythm Heaven: Miracle Stars') in South Korea[5] and Jiézòu Tiānguó: Qíjì Zhī Xīng[6] (節奏天國 奇蹟之星?; lit. 'Rhythm Heaven: Miracle Stars') in Taiwan and Hong Kong, is the upcoming long-awaited fifth game in the series, set to release for the Nintendo Switch in 2026.

This game would be the first time the series has been officially localized in Dutch, Portuguese and Traditional Chinese, and also marks a rename for the series in South Korea, from Rhythm Sesang (리듬 세상?; lit. 'Rhythm World') to Rhythm Cheonguk (리듬 천국?; lit. 'Rhythm Heaven') mainly due to trademark complications[7].
